"luxury" cars - why?

Some people make a lot of money. It’s really that simple.

why spend money on anything other than basic life necessities? does that question really need to be asked? why be rich or a billionaire? can't OP imagine that some people would like to make more money and buy some nicer things? to each their own.

Because they want to.

Luxury cars are safer.....latest safety systems may save your or anothers persons life. No price fir this

I buy luxury cars after they come off their first lease. They are certified pre-owned and still under warranty but way less expensive than if you buy new. Luxury cars are usually made better and reliability is important to me.

Yes, literally no way to price a person's safety...

I genuinely don’t understand it either. I have a family member who recently got a new Mercedes. I myself recently got a new Nissan. In complete seriousness, I love my Nissan much more and I think the inside feels richer.

Op, I'd say that $35k car is too expensive. I bought a $15k car which has served me well 10 years, and will last another 5 at minimum.
Even the $15k was too expensive since I only made about $25k that year. I'm happy as hell with my "banged-up-will-never-die" car. It's cheap to fix and cheap to insure.
Ex had a BMW and we had an Audi A5 at some point, but call me clueless, I didn't feel the big difference in driving experience. The difference I felt was in my wallet, and god, those 2 cars had so many problems. We left the dealership and the light came on.
I think the people who buy the luxury cars also make a lot of money, so it's relative.

Why buy coats when animal skin does the job just fine? Some even prefer it.
Why buy food at a grocery store when a backyard garden is so much better?

OP are you 10 years old? If not, how did you make it adulthood not knowing the answers to basic life questions? And having to post your dumb question online no less?

You are asking why some people go beyond just the bare minimum necessities in life? Uhh...

There is a huge difference in features. I've only driven cheaper cars that I drive till it does make sense and now that I am older I'm tired of it. My next car will be something fun and around $50K. We don't have a huge income, but a good one and are savers so paying cash. Life is short. If it makes you happy, why not?

If you look at cars now, they have come a long way from cars with back-up cameras. DH just bought a $65k car because he has a ridiculous daily commute and it has features like auto drive in traffic (it slows down and speeds up, brakes for you if someone brakes fast), and sensors all around so you always know if there’s someone in your blind spot, or if a kid runs out into the street when you’re backing up, thinks like that. ..

Relying on auto drive is a bad idea. Sounds like he wants the car to drive for him. That's dangerous. He should take the train!

I have one like this. You have to keep your hands on the wheel or it will disengage. The car has faster reflexes than a human.

In the market for a new car. What kind of car is this please?

Audi. For the model we got (A4), you have to get the highest trim level to get all the drive assistance features. Worth it for me as I find stop and go traffic really annoying, so it does all the stop and go stuff.
