Defensive! Hit a sore spot? |
| Because I enjoy driving a nice car. |
|
To each his/her own... what's the deal? Why should you blow money on a nice dinner when a sandwich would do?
|
This is one of the silliest things I have ever heard. |
| Why does anyone buy nice things? Why doesn’t Beyoncé live in a trailer? |
|
If you’ve never experienced luxury you won’t appreciate it.
And if you don’t know, now you know. |
I have one like this. You have to keep your hands on the wheel or it will disengage. The car has faster reflexes than a human. |
|
What? Dude, if you are buying a $75-$150k car then chances are you quite wealthy and have enough money “saved”
|
| A car is nothing more than a commodity. Buying a luxury car is no different than buying a designer bag. At least the bag will likely retain most of it’s value. If you like fancy stuff and have the money to afford it then why not? |
Psst: here's a little secret Ready? Some people can afford it For many people in the DMV, 35k is a weekly income. Not really worth cheaping out then is it |
This. It’s what it says about you to other people who see you driving it. If there was a $65k Honda Civic with all of the amenities people are talking about, no one would buy it. |
According to this 2014 NYTimes article, the median income of a luxury car owner is less than 100K. It is certainly not those earning $1M+/year that are driving luxury car sales. |
|
It’s an image thing. They do it because they can. It’s the same reason someone has a Rolex instead of a Timex. There isn’t actually any good reason for it other than being flashy and showing off.
Despite the opinions of some, luxury cars are not better, smoother, or safer than a Toyota. In fact, there are a lot of crash tests that show this. |
|
Because they like it?
My DH loves cars and drives a mid-range BMW. I don’t care about cars and drive a minivan. We are financially very comfortable. |
This. |
