What falsehood. Hogan is no friend of public school system. He is in the pockets of business interests. |
This +100 PP, do you really think MCPS is being transparent? Ask someone at the MC Police Department what thy think of MCPS’ recent record. You would be horrified. MCPS does not do nearly enough to ensure children’s safety. It is an entire culture of sheltering child abusers that has not improved in the slightest over the past 5 years. |
+1000 Ask Child Protective Services and the Montgomery County Police Department how many times MCPS employees fail to immediately report suspected child abuse and neglect. Also ask how many times they find victims that MCPS had interviewed prior to CPS/SVI doing a forensic interview. |

Contact the following person if you have specific information regarding MCPS failure to protect children. If Maryland can help MCPS fix the problem, Federal funds won't be in jeopardy.
Valerie Radomsky Director Office of Education Accountability valerie.radomsky@maryland.gov |
Unfortunately, this is the problem. Contacting someone INSIDE MCPS doesn’t seem to help. It’s a culture of sheltering abusers. Honestly, I would recommend also going to the Police Department at the same time if you have any specific information. It is not in MCPS’ best interest to report and investigate incidents throroughly. |
She’s not in MCPS |
To report child abuse and neglect, your first contact should always be calling Child Welfare Services and the police. Keep calling till someone contacts you back. To report problems of MCPS failing to protect children, please contact the Office of Educational Accountability. |
This. MCPS will be unable to pay teachers who don’t have shady pasts. |

Yes, when government agencies fail to do their job, their funding is eliminated and they are shut down. A new agency has to be created with new safeguards. That's how government works. (As in the takeover of PG County Public Schools.) If the Board of Education wants to protect their positions they need to act. |

An example of the lack of transparency by MCPS. No community notification of the following arrest of a MCPS employee for sexual assault.

Were the parents at DuFief ES notified at least? I could possibly see not sending out an MCPS-wide email, but the parents at that school cluster need to be notified. |
Maybe because “the incident occurred off-campus and did not involve students, but was rather a domestic matter”. Do you think he was abusing students? |
Yes, he is. Shortening the school year because of Ocean City? I hope he gets voted out. |
|
No, because that hurts all students for the actions of one perpetrator.
What should happen is that higher-ups are automatically implicated if a sexual assault happens. Prison time for the hierarchy. That will put the fear of God into them and trigger some investments into closer scrutiny of past employment, functional and monitored video cameras, and a greater culture of vigilance. |
