I'm the pp you quoted, and have to agree with you. CNN is the real shit. |
| How do we know it's a hoax or that he wasn't on board to start? I'm not getting any of that online. |
They're covering it now on CNN live online. |
| Another 2 hours of my life down the drain. |
i don't know...there are worse things to do with my time than worry about a stranger's child and then find out he's okay. We were all so worried about him and now most of you are quickly turning on the family. It almost seems like people are disappointed that he appears to be safe. BTW, I will be relieved when I hear the boy has been found and not before. Agree that CNN sucks though... |
I think people are pissed that the family may have worried a nation sick as a stunt. |
I see where you're coming from, but that's not at all why I'm so annoyed. I can't believe CNN jumped on this without doing any homework whatsoever. Now they are saying (on CNN) that there is no way that the balloon could have taken off with the child or anything over 35 pounds in it. For that, I'm so dissapointed in CNN. I'm "turning on the family" because I bet you anything that they were either in on this whole thing or that they at least knew from the start that he was not in it. Apparently the family was a disaster on the show Wife Swap. The whole thing is so suspect. The family was out there working on the balloon together! How could they have believed that their son was in it? He couldn't have set it off anyway. |
| I remember that family from wife swap...they were beyond ridiculous and will probably be on the Today show tomorrow morning laughing at how funny it is...at least I hope that's the best outcome...the other would be horrible. But they didn't set themselves up so well for us trusting them with their wacky behavior on wife swap. I hope the boy is ok. |

The balloon didn't seem to have enough lift to carry a wooden box and a boy. I doubt it would have enough lift to get off the ground with him in it.
Anyone know how to determine the amount of helium needed to carry a child? |
They had a episode about that on Mythbusters! With adults of course (and regular ballons), but I remember they needed A LOT! |
A strong one! |

He's been found alive:
Update | 6:07 p.m. The 6-year boy, Falcon Heene, was just found alive, according to reporter Dan Frosch, who is at the boy’s house in Fort Collins, Colo. The Larimer County Sheriff, Jim Alderden, said that he was found hiding in a box in the family’s garage. http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/15/6-year-old-alone-in-hot-air-balloon-over-colorado/?hp |
| I wonder if his parents were in on this, or just a stupid trick planned out by two young boys. |
I felt sick inside watching that footage. Sorry, but I prefer to save those horrible kinds of feelings for something legit. |
