Very weird.

It's the same thing that happened with the Jon & Kate + 8 kids. Maybe they always do that with large family groups to ensure each set of kids gets adequate individual time with the non-primary parent.

Yes, it's a transition focused on relationship building. He gets them for more than a week at a time on his own later this summer.

But that's not normal.

Regular people split custody 50-50, including overnights.

I get that he got drunk and they had a fight on a plane, but that's not a legit reason to keep him away from his kids. The should have 50-50 custody. They are rich enough to afford to fly a where and rent luxury homes and hire staff to support such an arrangement.

No, he's not. He's over his head with her insanity - he's basically just a down home boy from the Midwest who fell into acting, likes to smoke pot and play architect. She's got a legitimate personality disorder.

Like attracts like.

And he's not from the Midwest, either. He got into a physical fight with his teenager and she spends her time volunteering with the UNHCR. I mean, they're probably both nuts (money will do that even to people who started out normal), but the idea that he's this simple, hardworking fantasy man that this PP built in her head the first time she saw Thelma & Louise and she's a big bad witch who tricked him into making a family with her for 12 years is just funny.

I don't understand why he originally lost custody. None of it makes sense to me.

Regular people don't have 7 kids and 7 school schedules to think about.

Are they really?

Scary.

Seriously? That's all it takes for you to believe something obviously ridiculous?

She did pretend to be a vampire for a while and kept vials of blood around her neck, so that would be a natural next step.

Not so unbelievable for her.

He grew up in Springfield, Missouri. That's the Midwest.

Um...no.

He is from the heart of the midwest and the buckle of the Bible belt, Springfield, Missouri. He went to Mizzou and just missed graduating.

You don't get much more midwest than Missouri.

Also, his parents and family are still in Missouri. He and Jolie would regularly bring the kids to visit them in Springfield.

His parents are in Oklahoma, I thought he was from there. My bad. (That said, the Bible Belt is the Southeast.)

This is all beside the point: they're both nuts and none of us knows as much as the judge on this case about which one is more nuts. That judge took custody from him in the first place, and is doling it out sparingly now. Hopefully they can get their acts together and coparent.

How much experience do you have with family law? Family law judges are certainly not infallible. And, you know, Jolie is an actress. A very convincing one.

Always thought she was an average actress.

It's always fascinating (and sad) to get glimpses in how utterly dysfunctional some of the most popular celebs are.

Brad Pitt has looks, money, fame, talent....but he's battled substance abuse issues for decades and here is in his 50s battling to see his kids.

Angie is a mess but that is no surprise. She's always seemed pretty unstable to me. Their wedding just two years before the divorce....what a joke.
Anonymous
His 'substance abuse' is so inflated by the media and especially by Angelina.
Was there ever any scandals with him under the influence for all these years? And no, what ever happened with Maddox doesn't count. Because we don't know what happened on that plane, really.
