If he had any pride he would ask this to be taken down. Especially because his face is visible in some of the photos .. anyone that knows him could easily recognize them. But of course he has no pride so none of this will matter.

NP here, what is wrong with you ? MSDB seems like a nice guy, polite, clear, and his pictures are very convincing? I didn’t look at the other thread but if he was a DB there then he obviously learnt a lesson and he is not here. + the fact that he is taking up the nickname with a smile seems to prove he is not one ..

MS DB, here. In the other thread someone thanked me sarcastically for mansplaining IF since I am a man responding to a lady's post about IF. In my post I also included that my wife had great results too and was trying to sound encouraging for the lady, but maybe pp was having a bad day.

Then someone else called me a douchebag for including a pic as a response to the question pertaining to if I was able to retain muscle while fasting. Obviously muscle growth and retention is quite subjective and everyone's perception is different, so rather than trying to use words, I just posted a plain jane pic of my torso. A little while later they replied with something to effect of "still waiting for compliments douchebag?"

In summary the handle "Mansplain Douchebag" was born, and I'm just riding with it now. I don't care, it's funny to me.

Whether something is funny is just as subjective, DB.

I just want to say that his explanation and information on using the Eat Stop Eat method had me understand it better and read the book. Hearing about his and his wife's results was also very timely and inspirational for me.

I have been doing 16:8 with no problems but also slow success on the weight front and you really do have to pay attention to calories daily with that method.

That was not time wasted, my body adjusted fairly well to skipping breakfast and I had done a couple of 20-23 hour fasts just because they worked well.

I am now doing the Eat Stop Eat method and am actually feeling really good about it. I fasted 24 hour from the end of Sunday dinner to the start of Monday dinner no problem yesterday and I felt great and had no problems.

I have no comment on the photos.

That smaller swimsuit talk does wonders for your rep. For all this work, you don’t look better than the average guy. Why is that, with all this work? How old are you and how old is your wife?

Disagree. I think he looks great.

Anonymous wrote:MS DB here...The initial reason behind this discussion was for those interested in learning more about IF and the weight loss benefits of it. Muscle retention is something that came up secondarily.

My primary motivator of IF quite honestly is because I want to stay attractive for my wife of 15 years. We like to go hard when we drink some times, and we like to stuff our faces on the carby snacks sometimes too. So yes, those people who track their daily intake and run 6 days a week and whatever else are doing nothing that I would argue about; I mean heck they're happy and getting their results. I'm happy for them. However, the lifestyle of constant discipline, nutrition restriction, tracking calories/macros is a real beat down for some people and they just throw in the towel on trying. A lot of people can do it for a while, but boomerang weight loss is a real problem and we've all seen it or experienced it.

IF isn't a good fit for everyone, such as the hypoglycemic crowd, and I wouldn't argue that other weight loss methods don't work as well, but for some people IF is a great fit (if they'll JUST try it) and it works! I was somewhat amused by the PP troll comment that my picture was proof of it's ineffectiveness. I'm not here to impress anyone, I just want to encourage and educate folks that might be interested in trying something out that could make them healthier if they're struggling to find the right thing. I stand to gain nothing by this, I'm not selling anything. I already deleted from my computer that picture I posted in the other thread, but I took another this morning and put it below for the curiosity of those who want to know what PP was referencing as confirmation that 24 hour fasts are ineffective.

Hot. Especially considering you were overweight before.

Wasn't it because someone asked how IF affects your period, and you explained to us that your wife gets her period every 28 days. . . .

That said, you are good sport about all of this.

MS DB here. Yes, that's right. I forgot about that part. There is research to show that fasting can balance hormones, and if you ask an M.D. (Gyno or otherwise), they can't affirm or deny that. Any advice (or treatment) outside of standard accepted medical protocol can open them up for a can of worms legally. They can even lose their license to practice. All that any mainstream doc can safely do is tell you what is accepted by medical powers in the US (FDA etc.). It's pretty sad really because mainstream medicine these days is all about prescriptions and symptom manipulation/suppression rather than addressing the root cause. My wife was having a particularly rough time with bad menstrual cramping among other things we she was overweight. I guess correlation doesn't ALWAYS equal causation, but it DID correlate. As she first got on her IF protocol when she had 55 pounds to lose, her hormones pertaining to mood and reproduction very much improved in the first few months. Who knows, maybe it was the weight loss and not the fasting, but it did correlate. Sorry, I just caught myself mansplaining again here...I'll stop.

Disagree. I think he looks great.

MS DB here...I may not be the best example for average muscular physique comparison. Like I mentioned before, I'm 6'8" and most folks aren't used to seeing someone at that scale when making a muscular density comparison. Just to make things even more irregular, my arm span is 7' (39" dress shirt sleeve). My arms are really long! Putting muscle on my body to the scale of an average size man is impossible without steroids, and that's not my goal.

MS DB...That's how it seems to be getting painted, just trying to clarify misperceptions on this anonymous board, but engaging the haters is sucking away my life.

Hopefully the things I've already said will help those interested in pursuing IF. That was the whole point of responding to begin with. I don't need to say anything else on the topic of this thread. I would refer anyone else to is interested in more info to Brad's FB page here https://www.facebook.com/BradPilon/
