I would RSVP no. That is insane! I got married in a cemetery for Fs sake, and still think this "black on black" wedding thing is stupid and crazy.

Wow. Can you do an AMA? You sound interesting!!

haha! What would you want to ask me? I did have a pretty interesting life back in the day, but now I'm just a boring old homebody mother/wife with 2 young kids. LOL, I did just recently buy a new shirt that has a small white design on the front, and when I woke my kids up for school my 3 year old got freaked out and exclaimed, "Mommy, what happened?! Why are you wearing that shirt? Who gave it to you?! What happened?!" He was freaked out because he had never seen me wear anything but all black. My mother was NOT happy about my wedding location choice, in case you were wondering. And the only reason I wore a black/white dress instead of all back is because she cried and begged me.

So many questions! Why do you wear all black? Do you talk about Goth with your kids? Did you have awesome wedding photos? Did you chose alternative type names for your kids?

Not really sure why about the all black, I just like it and feel comfortable in it. In high school I started wearing all back and dyed my hair unnatural colors and experimented with hair cuts. There has been a few times in the past 20 years when I tried to wear something non-black, but it made me feel uncomfortable and depressed. I do not talk about anything like that with my kids, other than them seeing pictures of me back in the day with Mohawks, weird hair, etc. I do have really awesome wedding photos, some taken in front of beautiful, elaborate crypts and monuments. My kids do have very uncommon names, but nothing like you would think. One has an "old man" name which was my dad's name, and the other has an obscure Irish name. I do not dress my kids in black and skulls and such, but I do have some friends that dress their kids that way. I don't really want to start an AMA because I'm afraid of it "outing" me on here, lol!

It's gonna be so awesome when your kids realize how Goth you were when they get to high school

You have no idea. This is also a destination wedding and airfare is $1000+. So we’re expected to schlep a tux through Europe?

Please tell me that this is the wedding of a sibling, or someone who donated a kidney to you, because I can’t underwhy you would bother for anyone else.

OP here, yes sibling. I've already committed to the airfare for my family, so I'm going.

Oh then ask your sibling or parents what the black on black means! DCUM is curious

The sibling is my brother and he's pretty clueless, so I asked the bride. She said tux and then send this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LBbdmE0ITY

I greatly look forward to all of your future posts on the Family Relationships forum...

Man, she went All. The. Way. with the black on black wedding! I mean, that takes guts. I've seen this done once, but only in the wedding party and immediate family form not all guests. I will admit, the pictures looked amazing. All of the men looked awesome in their solid black look and it made the bridesmaid's color dresses pop even more.

I have been to multiple weddings in Europe and none of them featured a deranged dress code like this. The ones I attended were basically garden party attire for the morning church wedding and luncheon, and then black tie for the evening soiree. This wasn't spelled out in the invitation because it is the norm for this particular country/social class.

Destination weddings have got to stop. It is different if the bride and groom are actually from/grew up in/reside in that area! Ridiculous to expect this of your guests. Politely decline, OP.

OP can’t, it’s her sibling’s wedding.

If it’s a sibling, she can text the sibling and ask wtf the dress code means.

She did. Catch up!

I've heard of guests being asked to white or black and white. But never all black. I'm guessing the bride will wear white and wants to be the only one noticeable in the pictures. The people who attend your wedding are called "guests" not "props" or "scenery."

Sad to see the little girls wearing all black. I hold off getting my girls black for as long as possible. If they’re anything like me, once they go black, it will be that way for the rest of time.

Will the bride wear black, too?

If so, you've GOT to send them this as a wedding present.

Another bridezilla diva on the loose.

I’d try to talk some sense into your brother before he marries this person. He’s headed for a divorce, if he’s lucky. A lifetime of sorrow, if he’s not.

I think it means black suit (dinner jacket or what you call a tuxedo or a regular suit) with a black tie.

i imagine this is like how the guys from Jersey Shore would do "formal."

Hahahaha. You should have your DH push up his sleeves like the guy in the video. This is clearly for teens going to prom. And Chandler, AZ, that’s my hometown. Not exactly the hotbed of fashion (motto: we’re almost as good as Scottsdale)

Hey, me too. I've been to a prom in Chandler. Can't imagine how this video is inspiration for a wedding theme.
