Jesus Christ Superstar

My parents were huge of the original back in the 70s. I remember I loved the songs and would replay the album.

This thing last night did not resemble it whatsoever. My mom was really disappointed.

Loved it! Thought it was very well-done and had some outstanding performances.

I loved it and I also love the original album. Am also a huge musical theater nerd. But disagree with Alice Cooper - was excited that he was playing King Herod but I thought his performance really fell flat.

I thought it was very good and I give the director enormous credit for pulling off a complex production live. John Legend's voice was average at best and it's too bad they didn't have a broadway voice in his place but he's a headliner. The other singers were all very good and I thought Alice Cooper's brief role was fantastic. You could tell he was really into it. I like that it was in front of a live audience but the shrieking was annoying.

I really liked it,it was entertaining.

I thought she was amazing. Bought “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” from iTunes immediately.

I heard her sing that song, and it was really clear why they cast her. In addition to her Broadway connection, that song is right in her range/style.

Like 40 plus years ago.

He was raised Christian, did the sex drugs rock n roll sin thing for a while, watched a couple of his peers OD and returned to Jesus and Christianity.

He has been married to the same woman for 40 years and both of them are practicing Christians.

He was a show stopper for sure last night. I had mixed feelings because I really got into the story line and to see one of the villains receive so much attention and swooning from the audience was jarring. To me at least.

Interesting. I've seen the stage show (years ago, not broadway) and for me, the main character is actually Judas, he really has the whole narrator piece and has the best songs so the whole time I always thought one of the "villians" was the center. With Alice Cooper, I think that excitement was really for Alice Cooper, he did awesome, but you didn't for a second feel like you were watching the character- you felt like an old rock god came back from the dead (I know he's not dead)

I agree that both Judas and Ciaiphus (sp?) are the central plot drivers. It’s mostly from Judas’ perspective. Jesus as enigma (and object of unqualified adulation) is part of the narrative.

Fixed it for you

am I the only one who gets annoyed by her? it's not YOUR night, it's your husband's. all the today show could talk about was her tweets, how about a person who actually performed in the production?

I agree.

She is so annoying. And dumb.

Without a doubt she is one of the most self-centered people on Earth

Not to make this about Chrissy but she bragged on IG that her income last year was $17M (when someone accused of being a gold digger). She would have never made that kind of money without being associated with her husband. I hate that she thinks that made it on "her own merits". She annoys the crap out of me.
