Jesus Christ Superstar

Anyone else watching this? (NBC) I think it's pretty darn good though of course not as good as the original! Judas and Mary Magdalene are great, not so sure about Jesus yet.

I am bothered that the Jesus cast does not believe in Jesus.

I'm enjoying it. Much better than the other live tv musicals that have been done recently.

It works with the Hamilton vibe, but Legend’s voice is weak. I also am getting annoyed at the audience shrieking.

This show has always worked better as a recording and not a performance on stage.

+1

Great cast choices and the setting works, too. If you have ver seen this live, it follows closely, which I did not expect this performance to do.

Not always. The original movie was sparse, yet entertaining for its time. The music is quite good, if you don't mind ALW.

I wish they’d do this with Godspell.

I watched it on Fios, pay per view- it's free.

Brandon Dixon is amazing. What a voice. He’s a St. Albans graduate and was also on broadway in Hamilton as Aaron burr.

I agree the shrieking audience is wrecking it. Also the dancing and backup singers are too hyper. Takes away from the performances.

I love love the original JCS movie. Hip and hippy.

I'm not buying John Legend in this role. He just seems awkward and out of place. Still, impressive production.

He’s truly awful. Has no high register. Literally has no breathing technique to hold any notes and his acting is completely wooden. It is so disappointing that this is what this generation is exposed to as “good”. This “production” is just awful.

They appear to be having some kind of a singalong party. The audience hysteria and manic dancers. The sound is terrible. The voices of major players aren't up to it.

I’m enjoying Chrissy Teigan live tweeting during JCS.
