Yet another illegal immigrant - twice deported - kills American in drunk driving accident.

Duh. Another person speaking in liberalese.

We can't deport U.S. citizens since they are legally entitled to be here. We can deport illegal aliens since they are here.....wait for it.....illegally. I can't understand why liberals twist themselves into an illogical argument to defend people who have broken laws in coming here and then go on to take innocent lives.

Doubly amazing how they direct more venom toward Trump voters than criminal alien killers.

THIS.

If the law worked like it was supposed to, the irresponsible drunk wouldn't have come here once, let alone twice.

You want to live in a police state so bad. Where we all must present papers to people at all times, right? You're view of the world is child-like. Actually, my 11 year old has a better grasp of the world than you. This is the trade off of living in a free society. Bad things will happen from time to time because there isn't control on every person in the US.

A free society does not mean allowing illegals to stream over the border unabated, although I gather you support that. After all, drunk illegal aliens mowing down innocent people is the trade-off for condoning illegal immigration. Get how crazy that sounds?

The problem is that although the liberals contend to be the party of compassion, their compassion is quite frequently misdirected. Here is a perfect example of compassion for those here illegally over those here legally who lost their lives for something that could have likely been prevented, simply by enforcing existing law. If the poster's 11 year old child was the one dead in this story (which I would never wish) I am sure the tune would be different.

But can you see how it rings hollow, when gun violence kills many thousands more people - American citizens - and the GOP broadly seems to just sit on their hands about it? Would you be satisfied if we starting commenting that our thoughts and prayers are with this family - would that be enough action for you? I doubt it.

If your concern is mortality secondary to illegal immigration, the data do not make a compelling case.

DP. Some people are justified in their states for being scared in their communities wondering if their law enforcement will protect them or if they are able to protect them for complicated issues right? (Ford is reported working on automated traffic police technology for this reason.)

We are between a rock and a hard place. People feel they need to protect themselves for different reasons. I wish things were different. I wish we could spend the money we spend on incarcerating people on rehabiliating people or on health care. The social pressure doesn’t exist in our communities to keep neighbors, streets, blocks, towns, counties on the straight and narrow. When many of us find or create a hero for a slice of happiness, the other half of the population needs to rip our joy from our hearts and tell us how dumb we are for wanting to believe our society can be safer for all, that our relatives’ sacrifices for the country we love mean nothing. Until we can hear each others’ concerns, we are going to need some form of protection. In the old days, God *was enough* and hopefully we can get back there someday.

"The state police said that Mr. Orrego-Savala was living in the United States illegally, having been deported to Guatemala twice before. He had been convicted of driving under the influence in California in 2005, and his record also showed “many other” misdemeanor convictions and arrests in Indiana and California, said Nicole Alberico, a spokeswoman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the federal immigration agency.
I.C.E. has formally asked the county jail where Mr. Orrego-Savala, who was using the alias Alex Cabrera Gonsales, is being held to continue detaining him for federal immigration agents. But before he is deported again he is likely to be prosecuted locally for causing the fatal crash, and federal prosecutors said on Tuesday that they had charged him with illegally re-entering the country after being deported."

Only the best, right liberals?

I am glad you are so concerned with traffic safety, and support Vision Zero in the community where you live.

Yep, all the R's in my neighborhood voted down traffic calming despite the fact people are routinely clocked going 50-60 in a sidewalk-less, streetlamp-less, unmarked residential road zoned for 25 MPH.

And this has what to do with an illegal immigrant, twice deported, arrested for DUI (among other things), driving drunk again, and killing two people? That's right. ZERO.

But nice diversion.

+1 I can't help noticing that every time there's concrete evidence of the horrendous consequences of liberal policies, the liberals turn it around to criticize Republicans.

DP. Weird argument. You are ignoring that the white, middle-aged men to whom you refer have a right to be in this country. The drunk driver in the story is an illegal immigrant, previously deported, and never should have been here in the first place. If immigration law were enforced, the Colts player would be alive today.

And his Uber driver, who was also killed.

Exactly. I am latina and my latina mom is afraid to stay alone in parking lot when she waits for me outside especially in heavily hispanic areas because she knows (shes been here 50 yrs) that many are illegal and have committed felonies in their home countries.

Well, I am glad we are able to provide them with a new start. Signed, a compassionate liberal.

Wow. No words.

I don't know if that person was serious or trolling. But I don't have too much sympathy for poor, maligned conservatives, who know the solution to illegal aliens and refuse to pursue it. All they do is call liberals names.

I'm not sure what about this you don't understand. They are here illegally. Yes, I'm sure some illegal immigrants have done good deeds. So that's a reason to allow them to stay?? You are defending illegal immigration. That's what it comes down to.

If your child was saved by someone in this country illegally, would you be pressing for the country to throw that person out, even if that person had been here since he was a child and was a taxpaying productive member of society?

I know, I was so shocked I couldn't respond. Just as pointed out upthread, the liberal, who obviously prides herself on her "compassion," directs that compassion to the illegal aliens who have committed felonies in their home countries. Where is the compassion for legal citizens who are victims of crimes from these illegal immigrants with a history of felonies?

But the argument is, "some illegals do good things and pay taxes" so you have to accept them all.

I would certainly advocate for a legal path to citizenship for that person. It may entail leaving the country and applying for legal status, but I would certainly speak very highly as a character reference on their behalf. All the others who have not saved Americans lives would need to go, though.

If the illegal immigrants who kill people in DUI accidents (and in other ways) weren't in our country in the first place, those particular crimes would never have occurred. To argue otherwise is just bizarre.

And if legal citizens who kill people were never born in the first place, those particular crimes would have never occurred, either. What's your point?

NP, but the point is, someone who was not a citizen, and had no rights under our law to be here killed two people. Those who commit crimes who are citizens obviously deserve punishment, but they had the right to be here in the first place. That is, their legal parents had the right to conceive them. Not really that hard to understand it, is it?

Ah, ok. Thanks for explaining it
