omfg you were all totally right about the revlon thingy

I got one for Christmas after all the talk on these boards and I had to return it. Any time I use an ionic hair dryer, my hair is flat and terrible. As if I slept on it for three nights. It didn't do work for me.

Ha ha - me too! I have Moms that see me with straight hair (after 40 years of wearing my hair curly) and ask what I'm doing since my hair looks great. I keep sending the link!

+1. I did so much research before committing. Ended up paying $40, and I LOVE this product. Watch lots of youtube videos, and buy some heat protectant. I'm obsessed.

FWIW - I had to send the flat one back, its the oval one that does the trick.

Pros: makes my hair smooth and creates nice movement at the ends.

Cons: makes my hair very flat at the top of my head. Fries my hair (very hot). Sounds like a 737 on final approach (very loud)-- wakes my husband up, much more so than regular dryer. Also, bristles are falling out.

Jury's out

I ended up buying one after seeing the buzz here.
That thing is great. I am finally loving my hair.

For those of you who can't manage a round brush and blow dryer, why not? Its not that hard.

When I have attempted this in the past, the results are mediocre. I don't have the time or patience to master the skill necessary to do this.

I use the hairdryer for my roots and the revlon for everything else.

Why did this not occur to me before now? Once of the few drawbacks of the revlon imo is that it doesn't straighten my curly/wavy hair very well at the roots. Small sacrifice to make for hair that takes 7 mins to dry and style as opposed to 20.

Other cons:
Heat source very close to your hair, so heat protecting spray is strongly suggested.
Bristles can bend and break. Clean the stray hairs out often, just like you would from your round brush.
Loud

Overall I'm still a huge proponent. My hair is curly in the back and finer and straighter in the front. It is NOT wash and go hair. I have a long bob that I either blow out and wear straight or add beachy waves to with a flat iron. The revlon has made my routine so much shorter, absolutely worth it.

Seriously - this thing gets SO HOT, I find that when I use it, even just a few passes through 1 particular section, my hair BURNS my hand. I stopped using it for that reason, even though I thought it did a great job.

Keep hair cleaned out of bristles or the heating element will burn up.

Anyone have a link to a good youtube tutorial?

I love mine, but man is it loud. I've debated wearing ear plugs while I blow dry. I think it's because you have to hold it closer to your head than a regular blow dryer?

What kind of hair do you have? I ask bc it makes a difference. Watching people with straight hair does nothing for my thick, wavy hair.

This is the one draw back, I agree. I love it otherwise and it has truly changed my life. I have nape of neck length wavy, curly hair so the heat is close to my skin all the time but it is worth it. My hair is so smooth and straight now with bounce and I can even go longer between cut/color than before because I look more polished overall.

Okay, you all have convinced me. But I want to get the 20% off at BBB. I’m going to check there before I inevitably get it at Amazon.
