Just found out I landed a new job while my boss was screaming at me

Enjoy your day OP! It will be wonderful!

(Maybe pack up your desk before you go in though)

OP here. It was civil, but I basically said I decided to go in a different direction over the holidays, and would work the next two weeks to transition my work. She was actually kind of stunned and stammer..."well, I rode you a bit hard."

I didn't bite, I just smiled, wished her and the team well and walked out. I emailed a resignation letter immediately after and informed her I'll be working remotely for the rest of the day.

I'm saving the champs for tonight,

Is there a worse expression to use than this? I think not.

Way to go, OP! A very similar thing just happened to my DH and he is happily in his new role now. Just getting out from under a terrible boss has improved so much in all of our lives! Happy 2018!

This is an awesome story, OP! Congrats on the new job!
Wow - 8 weeks vacation - care to share the company? Or industry?

Enjoy your new position.

Your boss sounds delightful! is this a well-known company? does the whole company operate this way, or is just your boss that's like this?

The Buddhist concept of mudhita (akin to vicarious joy) may fit.

Is it a European company giving you eight weeks? That's awesome, good job!
