Harvard under Investigation

2017- 25.2% Asian
2018- 24.3% Asian
2019- 23.5% Asian
2020- 26.6% Asian
2021- 23.8% Asian

If you look at just domestic students alone, Asians represent 24% of Harvard's student group (https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/08/24/us/affirmative-action.html) and average about 22% at all 8 Ivies. The domestic Asian percent is 5.6%. That means Asians are highly over-represented at the Ivies- by a factor of 4 times. Am I missing something?

Yes, you are missing something. The point is not about how Asians are over represented. The point is that Asians have to out score every group, and by A LOT in some cases, to get in. Yea yea I know about holistic approach, but IMO, "holistic" is just euphamis for affirmative action.

If a black student gets in even though he scored 500 points lower than the white or asian guy, but he has something else unique about him that the school wants, isn't that "holistic" approach?

Similarly, if a white student scoress 200 points lower than the Asian guy, but has something unique about him, then they will take the white guy over the asian guy.

Universities don't want 90% of the same types of Asian students, or white students, in their student body. I get that. But like I said, if you are against affirmative action, then you should also be against holistic approach.

So 10% of your application is better but the other 90% is lacking and does not fulfill the needs of the college/university.

So they're a 1/4 (or more) of basically all of the US's top colleges which they had no hand in building, and they still complain? Let me know when Korea, China, Japan let foreigners take over 25% of their few best colleges. It would never, ever happen. American guilt, or whatever, is asinine. There are literally millions of qualified multi-gen American teens that could and should fill these seats.

We are a white family living in an affluent part of metro DC.

This is why diversity choices should be based on income only.

I agree....race based AA is a joke. I know so many children that checked the Hispanic box but identify as white and don’t know a thing about that (small) portion of their cultural history.

Try asking AAs to name 5 African cities.

I don’t know where to begin. Someone help. I can’t.

And you know this how? Do you work in admissions at Harvard?
There are 2037 admission seats. If all 2037 were given to Asian students, I wonder how many lawsuits would there be to force Harvard to create a few thousand more seats? Bottom line is there will never be enough seats to admit all qualified students regardless of ethicists

Especially at Harvard where they give almost 1/3 of their seats to white Jewish students. Because of this unfair bias everyone else is discriminated against.

Like kushner

Another Jewish alum, Ron unz, has even showed that Jewish applicants get preferential treatment for acceptance

The cat is out of the bag

It’s ok - it is what it is, but people should just be honest

ruce

Rice is plurality white

Overall vs. Black Acceptance Rate:

Emory- 25.2% vs 25.9%
Cornell- 14.1% vs 17.6%
UChicago- 7.9% vs 8.3%
Johns Hopkins- 11.9% vs 15.6%
USC- 16.6% vs 14.9%
Rice- 15.3% vs 16.7%
Pomona- 9.4% vs 16%
Wesleyan- 17% vs 12.9%
Davidson- 20.1% vs 13%
Colgate- 28.5% vs 16%
Vassar- 26.9% vs 26.8%
Barnard- 16.7% vs 14.1%

The gaps are not huge and often even lower (especially at LACs)

Why are we rolling out the scores of black students? The real competition is between Asian and white students. There are not enough Black students at Harvard to make a difference in this argument. The Ivy league has decided that 7-8% of African Americans is all that they will let in. - I bet you'd see roughly the same percentages for Asians across the Ivy League, as well. I think there is a type of collusion going on.

I'm black and I think what is being done to Asians is wrong - but to say that is because they are letting in black students with lower credentials is a foolish game designed to pit minorities against each other. It's the legacy and athletic hooks that hurt Asians the most. My DC will be applying to two Ivies DCs credentials are in the middle 50% for those schools. I don't consider it to be a slam dunk at all.

Harvard latest class is 15% black

I don’t mind that - it’s good to have more blacks on campus because in general they are happier and contribute to making the school less stressful

Legacies and jews are what are really overrepresented

Important to note about half the Caucasians are Jewish.

More than half

For God's sake, google before you post. This is old litigation. It's about Asian-American discrimination and not URM, black, Hispanic. Harvard isn't closing due to privacy claims. This is two, three years old litigation. All you had to do was google seth waxman Harvard. . https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-harvard-discrimination/u-s-threatens-to-sue-harvard-over-admissions-policies-idUSKBN1DL1PQ

Maybe that's true, I have no idea. For this to be a conspiracy, you're saying Jewish people have taken over not just presidents of universities, but also admissions departments (I believe Harvard's admissions Dean is a Catholic guy, fyi), and they somehow know which kids are Jewish? Half the Jewish people I know don't have a Jewish surname. How do the Ivies know these kids are Jewish? Who exactly directs them to admit more Jewish kids? Why haven't any former admissions reps whistle blown, either to the press or to the Justice Dept.?

HELLO - this is old litigation about discrimination against Asian-Americans who have higher stats than other applicants. DOJ is just throwing a volley to Seth Waxman, he will serve back. Nothing to see here. No AA racism, hispanic, Jewish or anything else. Read before you post.

Should admissions offices start asking applicants for their religion? Short of that, there's no way to keep all these Jews from sneaking in.
