Try the southern caramel cake at Danielle's in the Galleria, Tysons Corner. To die for and is probably similar to what you remember.

I made my daughter’s Wedding cake. She wanted my southern caramel cake. I wish she had wanted a bakery cake. I’ve made caramel cake hundreds of times. Still, I was a nervous wreck making it for a wedding. Thankfully, it was perfect. My son and his fiancé have asked me to make theirs.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who doesn't remember. It was delicious with white frosting I do remember that much.

Amen, and I was only married 8 years ago. I think ours was lemon on the top tier, almond on another and I can't remember the third. Chocolate maybe?

A lemony white cake with a layer of raspberry filling. It was nice. I didn't care about having a cake but my friends all objected when I said I might skip it. We're all older millennials so apparently not all of us hate wedding cake!

But it was really, really good. Vanilla sponge, lemon curd layers with vanilla buttercream. My fiancé and I were still putting the finishing touches on it 30 minutes before the ceremony, while everyone else was already at the venue.

I don’t think that’s stupid. I think that’s really cool. And I hope that memory of finishing it up just in Time brings a smile to your face for decades!

We had red velvet cupcakes and a small chocolate, peanut butter, banana cake to cut. It was so yummy and only we ate it!

Luscious spice cake with a buttercream frosting, baked by an old-fashioned bakery local to that city. It was so tasty that when I thawed the top for the one-year anniversary, I ate the whole thing over a few days.

An almond cake with ombre blue buttercream frosting for cutting; a variety of cupcakes for guests. If I remember correctly, we had: mocha with cappuccino frosting; pumpkin chocolate chip with chocolate frosting; chocolate with peanut butter frosting; key lime; and more almond with vanilla frosting.

Yuck, why not some simple ones.

I mean...we only had 25 people total at the wedding and everything got eaten, so they must not have been *too* "yuck"
