Newsflash. Not everyone wants to touch your dog or be sniffed/licked by them.

I walk to the bus stop in the morning right around the time when other people are walking their dogs, and I will walk in the street (no traffic at that time) rather than cross the path of dogs and their largely oblivious owners, who usually are staring at their phones. I don't have time to involuntarily make contact with a dog at that time. I don't want to be slobbered on, sniffed, or get dirty paws on my work clothes. So basically I'm asking dog owners to PAY MORE ATTENTION to what their dogs will do. It seems like a lot of people have dogs just because it's trendy, not because they really are "into" their dogs.

I owned a 100 lb husky (malamute size) and I have 2 small dogs now. Idk how any owner with a big dog can pay attention to their phone AND walk their dog. I havent seen it happen around me.

Licking is kissing. You can't tell someone who's feeling love to not show it.

The reality is, you live in a world with dogs. You have to accept that. Just like I dislike cats, and accept that they exist and sometimes I have to interact with them.

I don't want to be sniffed by your dog. Got it?

I kick dogs that make contact with me. Hard. With the goal of hurting them.

So if you don't want your insufferable fur-baby to get the toe of my shoe in its chest or ribs, keep it away from strangers.

That would not go well for you if you did that with my dog. I hope we meet.

I live in Eastern Market. I'm not afraid of you or your dog. Either of you touch me, you'll be dealt with physically. I'm within my rights to defend myself, and I will.

Control your dog.

OK, Francis.

Dear dog owners,

If you don't want people kicking your dog, then you clearly don't love your dog enough to keep it by our side, and in your full control at all times. If you don't care about your animal, it's asinine to expect others to. Why did you get a dog if walking it is such a chore?

It's your pet. It's yours to control, always. Don't expect others to oblige when you're not even caring for your own animal.

With a well trained dog who walks at a "heel". It's not rocket science.

Sure but even when a dog owner told their dog to stay they still jumped around or lunged at me or my dog. I think that a majority of people adopt rescues and don't adequately retrain them. Now if they gab on the phone as they walk their adopted dog that dog can easily lunge at my dog despite the owner saying, oh he never does this, he is trained blah blah blah.

Then it's unlikely that we'd have a problem. Why do you even care then? Go find a cause.

Exactly. CONTROL your dog. Don't let it touch people without their consent.

Don't let it go around putting its wet nose against people's skin or clothes. I don't want dogs touching me. They are filthy. They EAT and SNIFF shit. They then touch people with their shit-covered noses, getting bacteria and filth and shit on people who don't want shit on them.

This is why people kick dogs that touch them uninvited.

As someone with severe allergies who has no love of dogs I find that most dog owners are able to keep their dogs from being in my personal space or touching my body. Others are indifferent and don't care if their dog is in my space and just lets the dog go where it wants and a small few seem to think that I want their dog to be all over me.

If contact happens accidentally with an owner who is trying to keep their dog out of my space, so be it, that is life. The rest of people who actively let their dogs touch me, need to accept that I will physically (but not aggressively at first) push their dog away with my foot or leg.

Substitute "kid" for "dog," and I agree.

There are some annoying kids for sure, but your bella or lucy or sadie is not a human being. If you truly don't understand the distinction and aren't just being an snarky asshole, then you deserve to have your dog kicked just so you maybe get a little human interaction to bring you back into reality.

Yes! This is even better than what I wanted to say. I do not want your dog touching me or my kids and why you think that's ok is beyond me. Thanks for scaring the crap out of my kids when you let your "friendly" dog lick their faces and jump on them. Just, no. Keep them on a leash and far away.
