Of course it can’t. But, here is a novel idea..... How about the fact that the person voting is actually a CITIZEN of the country in which they reside being a basis??? |
OK, any data on how much the ILLEGAL immigrants pay in taxes is meaningless if you don't also include what we spend on them. So, they paid $275 million taxes? According to a 2012 report (I know it's old but we can assume it's only gone UP), illegals cost Maryland $1.7 BILLION. And to put that in context, the state's budget deficit was $2 billion, meaning that illegals count for almost all of it. https://capitalresearch.org/article/casa-de-maryland-and-the-corrupting-influence-of-illegal-immigration/ |
Nothing illegal about overstaying one's visa, right? Good grief, listen to you apologists.
|
It absolutely is. All of these people, waiting patiently in line to become LEGAL citizens, having others for whom apparently the law doesn't apply just jump right ahead of them. It's unbelievable that anyone makes excuses for people who are residing here illegally. |
You must be joking. Many, if not most, illegal immigrants are paid in cash only. They do not pay income taxes. How ridiculous. |
+100 You'd think this would be basic common sense, but apparently not. Every day, DCUM shows me just how far away from common sense this country has gone. |
| Hmmm. Maybe I should be able to vote in Ohio or Michigan or PA or FL so that it actually counts for something? If illegal aliens can vote, not being citizens at all, seems logical that I should be able to vote where I want to. |
What is this line you speak of? If you're uneducated enough to think that's how it works, then you definitely shouldn't be voting. |
+2 the sheer ridiculousness is just mind boggling. |
Liberalism, period. |
hey genius, this is a LOCAL issue. Not a federal issue. Federal citizenship has nothing to do with state and local voting rights. |
stupid and racist go hand in hand. let me explain to you. contributions to the economy are not limited to the taxes you pay. they also come in the form of money immigrants spend in the economy and the labor they contribute, which creates jobs and strengthens the economy for everyone. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/readersrespond/bs-ed-immigrants-letter-20140113-story.html |
Boom! And out comes the racist card, along with the usual attack of "stupid." The PP claimed that illegals contribute $275 million in taxes, so naturally the rebuttal to that was in monetary terms, and that's the fsct that they are COSTING $1.7 billion! And when you talk about the other contributions - like spending money in the economy - that still doesn't offset the nearly $2 billion taxpayers are paying for them. They are a net drain on the economy. And what about the schools going bust, crippled over the cost of the illegal immigrant children, and the drop in the quality of the schools because of the poverty and lack of English, and the consequent drop in housing prices? American citizens who have been paying taxes for decades have watched their property value cut in half as a result of this Imflux. You can twist it around however you want, but a big influx of people with an average education of 10th grade, is not going to be an advantage to our country. You liberals have everything backward, while you live in your upper-middle class neighborhoods and send your kids to private school. That's why you lost. |
PP, the way you describe the situation sounds almost like influence peddling. There ought to be a better argument than they pay taxes. |
If you entered legally, and then overstayed your visa, you didn't "sneak into the country". |
