Turns out, you can live a full life without travel sports. Your kid can go back to playing rec with nice kids interested in soccer for soccer's sake. It is nice.

that is nice.

we have found our travel team to be really nice and our daughter is enjoying her new friends who have a love for soccer and competition. it has been really nice for her to be with a group that have similar skill and they are all learning to work together as a team.

NO, say it isn't so. I was told you will fail in life without travel, da, ccl, ncsl, vpl,.........You have ruined my day, I feel like I'm in the Matrix.

Did you or he regret the time, cost, etc. of playing Travel when he was young -- instead of rec or maybe another sport?

Yes, do tell us, and then explain your answer. We all ask because I'm sure we have made a possible mistake of doing travel soccer for the first one, and have real doubts about doing Travel Soccer again for his/her younger siblings.

What will you do if your son doesn't make the ECNL team at U13? Is there a BRYC backup or will you be forced to find a new club then? [/quote

I know they have scheduled friendly matches with Fredericksburg , Mclean, LMVSC, etc. and as of now the u13 has more teams than 12 and 11 so I'm sure they're look to recruit . Where did the Kids end up the left BYRC u12 & 11 ?

I had friends that played BRYC boys u11 that left for SYC.

We were there at a different age group and left for LMVSC. We have been extremely pleased and glad we left. While the change to ECNL was the main driver we had other reasons also. I am sure everyone's experience is different.

And you did not want to ECNL? May I ask why?

No I looked at the travel requirements for they games and they seemed excessive. We are soccer parents for sure but the travel was too much for us. Also we didnt like the fact that at the younger ages they wouldn't be in a league so I wasn't sure what to expect. Seems to somewhat be working out based off some of the previous forum posts with the scrimmage etc. However at our new club we have our regular matches, tournaments, and scrimmages with local clubs. That is really what my child thrives on...the games. He may or may not play when he is older so I want to make sure he is enjoying it now. Another fact was there is no guarantee your child makes the ECNL team. We would rather stay local and compete with the local teams in our league and make sure it is always fun. As soon as its not fun anymore I would expect my kids to lose interest. That's my take at least.

Our teams are doing scrimmages with BRYC but players are viewing as optional vs. their 'real' CCL games because the scrimmage tends to be tacked onto weekends that already have regular CCL games scheduled..(it's also sort of annoying that the scrimmages are not even on home fields--we have to travel to them for a scrimmage proposed by them), so I sense there will be a lot of sub ins from lower teams for any BRYC games making them less interesting...

That was exactly my thought .... and one of the reasons we decided to avoid BRYC also. Thanks for these details! Reassures me that we made a good choice.

There is a link at the top of the page title "Post New Topic". Please use it or STFU. This is the second time you have bitched about needing another thread.

I know it's hard to believe, but we're actually two different posters. Simmer down.

Either way it has been stated twice within a week. The link is and has always been there so no, both posters can just create a thread and not suggest that one be made. The same effort that went into the suggestion could have gone into creating the thread.

Can someone please explain why they think we should have separate threads for boys and girls?

I can't see a separate reason for a separate girls' thread. So many issues affect both boys and girls.

I could actually see making a separate thread for NCSL and ODSL just so it'd be free from all the chest-beating about the DA, ECNL, CCL and VPL, but I don't quite care enough to do it. Besides, Angry CCL Guy would probably turn up in that thread anyway.
