I bet they assumed there would be leftover pizza. Only once at a party, all the pizza and cake was eaten. At all other parties, there were always leftovers.
Plus they assumed properly that the kids would eat when the pizza was offered. |
Was the store fairly far away? |
I have no idea. They live near a bunch of shops but I don't know which one she went to. |
Maybe google where her nearest shopping center is. If she drove 15 minutes there, spent 15 minutes shopping and then drove 15 minutes back, it would be easy for her to have been gone 45+ minutes even if she was getting the food as fast as she could. Bottom line is, she did get you a nice meal. I would let this go and next time have more packages of snacks in my purse or simply hit the drive thru or stop at a gas station on the way to her house. |
If I had a house full of hungry kids I would go to the nearest shop and buy something ready to eat. That's just lacking in common sense. Np. |
| How old are these kids? |
Lol, me too. Hot dogs and popcorn from the service station market - coming up! |
|
OP, you needed to use your words and take responsibility for your own family.
"We'll see you back at the house. The kids didn't eat much, so they will be hungry--can I pick anything up on my way there?" |
Mine are 2, 4 & 6. Hers are 6 & 9. |
Sure in 20/20. At the time she had no idea that nothing would be offered. |
Really he was appalled! I'm so thankful for my family and that my brothers did not marry drama. |
The horror! |
I ALWAYS ask hosts if I can stop to get them anything. And I wouldn't show up empty-handed. |
Mine would have eaten it gratefully. |
| Your dinner was served at 4:45. It was pizza. I don't expect "guests I invited over to my house" to require a second meal less than an hour after the first was served. If your kids weren't hungry then, too bad. She is not a short order cook. |
