DCUM-Land Doom and Gloom in 30s

I just laugh at the people who post stuff like "can I ever find happiness at 32," "how to be hot past 30?" If you aren't finally settling into yourself and really hitting your stride in your 30s or somehow think you were a better version of yourself in your early 20s, you're doing something wrong. I am thoroughly enjoying my 30s.

+1 only I'm 35. Frequently mistaken for being in my 20s.

But I do realize it is a lot more work, and it's a different kind of hotness. In my 20s I could eat whatever I wanted and dress however I wanted, and men were still interested all the time. I could walk into a coffee shop in sweatpants and get asked out. Now, if I do that, I just look frumpy and unattractive. The natural hotness of youth is gone. I cant roll out of bed an 8 anymore, it takes more effort.

You do know there is more to life than being hot? You sound so boring.

Pretty sure PP cares about other things.

I have a PhD, a "fancy" job, a great house, sweet family, hobbies, interest, etc., but the above is also the truth for me.

Honestly, in my 20s, I could stay up 'til 4 a.m. every night, get 6 hours of sleep, wear no makeup, laugh at the idea of working out, and feel hot--get hit on just pumping gas or whatever.

In my 30s, I am usually in bed by 10, work out religiously, take care of my skin, etc., and I think I look good, but I just know I'm not as "hot," and I have to work harder to make it happen.

Knowing that

It's not about your age. It's having kids that ages you, they suck is dry. if you (and OP of that other thread) didn't have kids, not much would have changed for you since your 20s. C'mon.

That contradicts the people who say that looking much younger than your age isn't do-able, PP.

Not true. The same reality is true for anyone in their 30s- living hard and not taking care of yourself shows at that age whether it's from kids or drinking.

Most of them are deluded. It's not impossible but it's rare and nobody looks 10-15 years younger than they are.

I do, PP. Up to 13 years younger I get told. Not alone either considering how many people on this thread seem to know someone who looks a LOT younger. If there were posters saying 'I look SO young, like 10 years younger' than accuse them of being delusional but if you read back, most are talking about co workers or friends of theirs. So, yes, not impossible by a long stretch.

I know SO MANY 30somethings in the DC area who are partying it up! Gorgeous barree toned bodies, prestigious DC type jobs, glamorous galas and parties. They get dates ALL THE TIME. They also marry similar over achiever glamorous DC types and have beautiful weddings at Meridian House that are showcased on Washingtonian.

What alternate reality are DCUM-ers living where you can't wear shorts after 30 and are a spinster?

What the bananas?

You guys cant truly be serious???

I also have a 36 year old non glamorous friend who is single after dating a 28 year old. She gets bombarded with messages from guys in her friends group and EXes wanting to take her out.

You guys must be delusional!!

agreed I didn't get married until I as 37 and had TONS of fun and a very active social life....I miss it.

people are just being nice. Notice how nobody is ever told they look older than their age? Yet there are similar number as those who look younger.

Its only odd in professional circles on the East Coast. Totally normal behavior elsewhere.

Because I'm 37 and nearly died last year. Now I have a chronic condition to manage, weight gain due to the medication and I really just feel like cocooning.
