How many bags do you carry to work?

Anonymous
I carry one large tote bag, but I drive. My lunchbag fits inside of it and I usually bring my laptop home. If I metroed/bussed/walked I would use a backpack. I do bring a resusable bag in case I need to do errands on the way to or from.

I used to metro and fit everything - laptop, lunchbag, gym clothes, extra pair of shoes, personal items in one bag. I don't like the "bag lady" look and it is inconvenient.

FWIW my daily carry is:
Work laptop
Work notebook
Personal planner
Wallet
Small makeup bag - around 5x3" (nail clippers, chapstick, hand lotion, floss, 1-2 tampons, Evian spray, hair ties, mints)
Pill box
Sunglasses + case
Phone
Water bottle
Coffee mug
Book or iPad
Small items - pen, cigarettes/lighter (sue me), work ID badge, headphones
Lunch/breakfast (in one large lunchbag)
Keys

Fits in one tote bag. Bring a resusable bag in case I need to transport stuff - so tomorrow I will be carrying 2 bags, 1 of normal stuff and one of dry cleaning/UPS dropoff boxes, I will fold up the bag when I am done dropping things off on the way to work.

If I needed to carry a change of clothes for the gym, including yoga mat or shoes, I would just use a bag that could accommodate that.. I really do NOT get the carrying multiple bags. I don't know what else I would need or what other women carry with them - I keep toothbrush, extra personal supplies etc. at my desk. If it is raining I carry an umbrella, I have umbrellas at my car and at work.

Bring lunch one or twice a week.

I Work from home on fridays so i bring my laptop. It's super small and goes in a lean backpack.

Honestly, when i see women with giant sized totes plus purses plus laptop bags leaving work every day, it comes across to me that they're inefficient martyrs. Clean your fucking purse out; you're just hauling a lot of junk around with you. And do you really need to bring a huge stack of files and your laptop home every night? And if you do, why don't they fit in your giant tote bag that is also overflowing with shit? I started asking colleagues (subtly) to find out if i was missing something about why they took so much stuff to and from work, and several admitted they're lives were messy, they rarely did work at night, but always left work with intentions to tackle a ton of stuff. The men in my line of work are not hauling around anything except gym bags. If they need to login from home, they login from a home computer or just respond on iPhone or iPad. The highly successful women in my line of work are not schlepping around with overflowing totes and lap top bags, either.

Gym bag, and lunch bag and nursing stuff -- sure no problem.

You have put way to much thought into this. Clearly you are very insecure.

Why do you care so much what other people carry if they aren't complaining? Weird.

I carry a large tote. I have a health issue and have to have a variety of meds with me 24/7 and some are not small (shots). I also like to have basics like hand sanitizer, phone, keys, chapstick, lunch, laptop, headphones, maybe hat and gloves in winter, sunglasses other seasons. I like having my stuff and don't mind carrying it but I am not a weakling so it doesn't bother me.

Are you kidding? It's the beauty and fashion forum. Why do people on here care so much about nova moms wearing capris and danskos? People it looks like shit and reflects on them. Same as carrying 3 bags.

It's a beauty and fashion forum, not the A-hole forum. You are the later. Go away.

Lipstick? Tampons?

Hairbrush? Keys?

PP here who carries next to nothing. I have an office, but I prefer to work from home most days out of sheer laziness. When I do leave the house, I drive, and in my car, there's ALWAYS a box of tampons right next to my first aid kit. Same goes for in my desk at the office. I don't think I've ever carried a hairbrush with me anywhere - luckily my hair stays in place pretty well. My key fob I hold in my hand. And I don't wear lipstick. I'll slap on some lipgloss before I leave the house and whatever happens to it while I'm out happens. No reapplying.

At most, if I have a work event, I'll carry a small bag, and at that point, I'll throw in biz cards, mascara, lipgloss, blotting papers, and a backup iPhone charger. That's it.

The funny thing is, I *love* bags. I have a TON of gorgeous designer bags. And it wasn't until this thread that it hit me that I have really not made an effort to use any of them - especially in this last year. I might have to scale back my shopping a bit.

No offense but I think it's probably pretty obvious to others that you don't care about your appearance...maybe add a spare lipgloss to your first aide kit. For the rest of us, at least.
