Why do you care so much what other people carry if they aren't complaining? Weird. I carry a large tote. I have a health issue and have to have a variety of meds with me 24/7 and some are not small (shots). I also like to have basics like hand sanitizer, phone, keys, chapstick, lunch, laptop, headphones, maybe hat and gloves in winter, sunglasses other seasons. I like having my stuff and don't mind carrying it but I am not a weakling so it doesn't bother me. |
PP here who carries next to nothing. I have an office, but I prefer to work from home most days out of sheer laziness. When I do leave the house, I drive, and in my car, there's ALWAYS a box of tampons right next to my first aid kit. Same goes for in my desk at the office. I don't think I've ever carried a hairbrush with me anywhere - luckily my hair stays in place pretty well. My key fob I hold in my hand. And I don't wear lipstick. I'll slap on some lipgloss before I leave the house and whatever happens to it while I'm out happens. No reapplying. At most, if I have a work event, I'll carry a small bag, and at that point, I'll throw in biz cards, mascara, lipgloss, blotting papers, and a backup iPhone charger. That's it. The funny thing is, I *love* bags. I have a TON of gorgeous designer bags. And it wasn't until this thread that it hit me that I have really not made an effort to use any of them - especially in this last year. I might have to scale back my shopping a bit. |
| Three: purse, lunch bag and small tote |
Are you kidding? It's the beauty and fashion forum. Why do people on here care so much about nova moms wearing capris and danskos? People it looks like shit and reflects on them. Same as carrying 3 bags. |
| 3 - laptop, purse, breastpump |
|
To the poster who doesn't understand why people carry so much stuff - my company has a "hotelling" approach to space. I don't have an office so one bag IS my office - computer, cable lock, mouse, chargers, notebook, pen, business cards, etc.
My other large tote is mostly empty, but I have 2 kids. I have a big bag with barely anything in it so I can throw their crap in it when I pick them up. |
| 1 contains laptop, lunch, umbrella, and make-up bag. |
Many people must work on encrypted laptops. I can't log on from my home computer. |
| Large tote bag, lunch bag goes inside. |
| Tote bag with my gym clothes (shoes and shower bag stays at work), my lunch goes there too (I don't use the lunch bag, just a brown paper bag), and a small purse. |
| 3. Purse, lunch, and any materials I need for the day (teacher) |
|
Usually a medium tote that holds my Surface, phones, kindle, wallet, keys, notebook (for writing--not a computer), pill box, lip balm, a pen, and mints. When I bring lunch, it's just a Tupperware container that goes into my tote. I have a lot of working lunches though.
I run in the morning (so no gym bag). Before kids, when I belonged to a gym, I would carry a separate gym bag. |
I am the same judgy. I see men waking into the office unencumbered, and some women walking in like they BARELY made it. Doesn't instill confidence. It's nuanced and not right, but real. I made a decision 10 years ago to only have a laptop bag and a purse. That's it. |
Well if we are being judgy - I notice a lot of the women carrying multiple bags go the gym and have gym bags. I don't work out at a gym (work out at home) but am an avid runner and so pamper my feet. I have a bit of walking in my commute, and I climb the metro stairs, so in addition to my laptop (don't have a desktop as I will never work for a company who doesn't give me a laptop and let me work from home) I do sometimes carry in work shoes, refuse to walk in shoes. The non fitness folks wear "impractical" shoes because they are moving very little and they need the heels to make them thinner. I prefer one large bag though - often a backpack, but sometimes a small laptop backpack and tote. |
| I carry one bag- it's a tote that fits my laptop, a notebook, my small wallet/cellphone holder purse and my lunch. I also have a few business cards, pens, and a lipgloss in the side pocket. I don't feel weighted down by the bag (fortunately my laptop is light and slim). |
