Is it ok to ask for baby clothing back if they are done with it?

I think it's fine if you put it in the context of borrowing. Just say if you still have 0-3 month sleep sacks, could I borrow them for the baby and I'll be happy to return them so you can use them for other kids or pass them on. I would be fine with that. But honestly she probably gave them away already.

So, OP, if your friend already asked you whether you wanted anything back, and you said no, then don't ask for your stuff back specifically.

However, I do think it's ok to ask for *general* items, just not yours specifically. And make sure your friend doesn't want it back!

+1. This is good advice. Honestly, I would not want the hand me down if the person wants them back. It shows me she is too attached to her stuff, hard to keep track, always having to make sure it's in a good condition to return.. honestly, OP, you can buy some of these clothes so cheap at tot swap. If they are of a name brand, then you shouldn't have given them away. It's just not classy to ask for things back.

You are not asking for everything back. Just something specific. I have shit tons of hand me downs for my 2nd kid. I will be unloading stuff soon. However, if a friend asked "hey I could use some of those pjs I gave you" I'd dig out whatever I could find. Might not be the right stuff, but I'd do my best!

This -- just ask like this. Make it casual, don't make a big deal out of it.

OP here. I just asked the friend if she had any 3m sleepers and she said she will bring me some tomorrow. We already had plans to meet. I don't know why I unnecessarily stressed about this. I did not specify that I wanted mine back.

You sound really cheap. I would have left it.
