American student films her father's arrest by ICE outside her school

Bad karma breaking up families like that. This is not what this country was meant to be. There is more to our values as humans than just money and law.

They cited his "prior convictions" - except it seems he already served his punishment for the DUI. Isn't it against the Fifth Amendment double jeopardy clause to prosecute and arrest someone a second time for something he already served punishment for?

Why do ICE agents want to inflict pain on otherwise law-abiding immigrant families.

The ICE agents are merely following the orders of their heartless President.

What's going to happen when the Eastern European immigrants decide it's too chaotic too come here and work from Trump's businesses? Karma, it's coming.

You know who is responsible for breaking up families? Irresponsible assholes who enter a country ILLEGALLY and then try to take advantage of that country by having half a fozen anchor babies while in the country illegally. The minute you give birth to an American citizen baby as an illegal alien, it becomes YOUR responsibility to risk having your family "broken up". Don't blame it on anyone else! These people made choices. Bad ones. Really unfair to the children that they brought into this shitty situation.

100% troll post.

Yes it is. And yet another vicious attack on the brave men and women of law enforcement who risk their lives to protect us every day (including from drunk drivers who are responsible for taking millions of innocent lives over the years).

+1 That was the type of thinking that cost Hillary the election. All the sympathy is for the law-breakers, and all the venom and demonization I directed at law enforcement officers. In the midst of all the violence unleased on the Dallas police, I saw a couple of cops....walked up to them.....and thanked them for their service. (Boy, were they surprised!)

Yeah, ICE is "merely following the law", in the exact sense of if we had cops only writing parking tickets while ignoring the lady screaming for help as she gets dragged into an alley by a rapist. Their priorities are completely fucked.

He is arrested for being illegal in the country, not for the DUI

I recall on this very Site being told that ICE wouldn't go to schools because they have a guidance not to go to schools and hospitals. Guess that was wrong.

It's a fucking job. It makes no one above approach. They get union protection, pensions, and that is as it should be. They deserve criticism when they act like power-hungry grease stains, as here.

I think you mean "reproach."

This is a sad video. However, I'm wondering why - in 20 years living here illegally - this man never applied for citizenship?

They can't go in schools, or churches, or hospitals, but that doesn't mean they can't wait across the street, which they do all the time.

Applied for citizenship? That's not how it works. First he needs a green card and he probably had no legal way to get one.

So why bring up an ancient DUI at all? Having had a DUI eons ago somehow triggers high priority removal action a decade later? Makes no sense.

Oh, you are so full of it, with your stale old "anti cop liberals" narrative. You are an example of "fake news" from the conservative bubble. Nobody I know is anti cop. But that said, liberals DO want cops to have their priorities straight (which, be honest, they sometimes don't) and do want them held accountable when they use excessive force or engage in shady business, which, be honest, does happen. That's not "anti cop."

And oh, by the way, during the Womens March in DC, the supposedly "anti-cop" ladies cheered the cops and were very supportive of them whenever they moved through or needed to do things and in fact many of the cops ended up wearing the pink kitty hats in solidarity as well.

The ICE agents are merely executing the law as they're supposed to.
