| Chicagoan here. These things are so dumb. I’ve met wonderful men and I’ve met men who suck. Guess what? That’s in any place you go. These stereotypes suck and mostly false. You will find find both types of people in all places. |

I saw a meme from reductress that said “Am I attracted to him or is he just Midwestern?”
I only know a few Midwestern men but I love them all. They just seem so interested in me, which is probably politeness I’m mistaking for real attention. Btw I’m married to somebody who isn’t a Midwesterner so I’m not about to go find one. |
Maybe but each is about 100 pounds less than the typical Midwestern woman. My husbands 20th reunion —women were all 200 lbs or above. Every time we land at Regan airport and ride home, we both immediately notice the stark difference in people’s girth and also the 100s of runners and bikers on the trails. |
| There were tens of thousands of them past Wednesday in dc |
| I lived in the NYC area for many years and then we got transferred to the mid-west. My initial reaction was OH God No but when we got there I discovered that Midwest people are just inherently nicer. The theory of Midwest values is very true. Within 2 years I had no interest in going back East. I’ve never dated a Midwest guy but the single guys I’ve known are very nice. |
Right, because all midwestern men work on farms. Like all those farmers in Chicago, Cleveland, Minneapolis, etc... |
I love Chicago and the Midwest but when you go to Wrigley Field it is amazing to see the men and women who are seriously obese. They make me feel spin shape. |
Pp They make me feel so in shape! |
| common sense over overeducated book smarts and no common sense any day please. |
Same. And same. |
Not my experience at all after living in Chicago for two years. “Nice values” = growing up in an extremely segregated region/ city where people of different races don’t often interact with each other in meaningful ways (generalization, I know!). Great cost of living, but the culture shock wasn’t worth it for me. |
| The obesity rates in the midwest are some of the highest in the country. You want a man with a massive beerbelly? |
Who hurt you? |
| I don't think they are. I think they tend to get fat, and they lack sophistication and originality. |
This makes it look like the midwest isn't that bad, unless you consider West Virginia and Kentucky to be midwestern. http://www.healthdata.org/data-visualization/us-health-map |
