Why is it O.K. for liberals to casually use slurs like redneck, trailer trash, flyover state?

Nothing stop you from saying it. Our culture defines what type of person you are by using it. Unfortunately for rednecks society/culture deems that word just fine. Probably because one word refers to a race of people and the other is based on class, not race.

The people who voted for Trump want big government interference in the market to benefit them; they don't want fewer benefits, they want more.
He campaigned as a sort of FDR. People, including a big chunk of those who vote GOP, want big government.
In 10-20 years they will be voting Democratic again, with Democrats becoming less socially liberal.
while elites of all kind will be voting Republican- which will then become more socially liberal.
That's my prediction based on what I see now in the Trump ascendancy.

Now they use the terms to manipulate the lower-class by saying the liberal elites believe they are dim-witted trash. It's quite befuddling given that liberals champion the safety net and work in the social service/anti-poverty advocacy arena. I suppose they might learn what's what under a Trump administration with republican control of the congress. If they decimate the safety net, destroy Medicare and SS, make health care worse, decrease benefits, and harm the economy, then maybe they will understand which party cares about others and which party only cares about the wealthy.

I am reading a book called White Trash by Nancy Eisenberg right now. It's a best seller. It's about the history of poor white people and basically talks about those terms coming from wealthy white people to distinguish themselves.
