Join the NRA and protect yourself against a tyrannical government?

Why would PP need to join the NRA?

True. I guess only liberals care about ethics and honesty. Now we know, since the GOP stopped pretending

Their glorified Hillary candidate was their quintessential example of "ethics and honesty", wasn't she, op?

After 20 years of investigation, nothing ever turned up, let's see how long it takes for Trump.

I am appalled by this, but please get the facts straight. Ryan is NOT supporting this. Leadership tried to kill it, but the members went over the leaders head and voted to pursue it anyway.

Either the leader is lying and actually supports it or else the leader doesn't have control. Neither is a good look.

Using foundation money to pay off a lawsuit against the Trump Organization is like Whitewater except the gun is smoking and he is holding it in his hand.

I do take some comfort that the vote for putting forth the amendment was 119-74, with republican leadership being against the amendment.

Does anyone know the history of this committee's actions? Has it been a tool of abuse used to target republicans, like the IRS?

It is an independent, bi-partisan body. The only reason to eliminate it is if you plan to do harm to your office or the nation.

I heard this morning that the reason they voted to get rid of it was because they felt the committee was "overzealous". I guess they were not overzealous enough when going after HRC so they thought to get rid of it.

If they really felt this way, you would think they would vote to change the charter rather than completely doing away with it, as in, don't throw the baby out with the bath water. It's like doing away with the IRS because of what happened in the past.

Drain the swamp, indeed. This is going to be the most corrupt four years in our government.

Committee is overzealous is the talking point for the morning. Shameful.

what's wrong with an ethics committee being "overzealous"? Is that really all they have? They don't even have a more credible talking point? Dios mio.

Pretty sure she was investigated overzealously and every part of the investigation was leaked and publicized.

This action is to block complaints against Members of Congress from being investigated or referred or even acknowledged. It puts a few hand-picked Members of Congress in charge of deciding whether Ethics complaints against Members of Congress should be investigated.

Call the office of Mark Meadows and ask why he was giving raises to a staffer paid in excess of $150,000 who didn't have to show up to work because he was a serial sexual harasser. GOP fiscal responsibility at its finest.

But they can't cite one specific example of a Nember of Congress who was treated unfairly by the process.

Ummm. The government has an Army with tanks and an Air Force with planes. Good luck with that.

It's just a name change and an relocation. The Senate does not even have an office like this and has been operating just fine.

You are buying the spin without understanding the underlying facts.

Don't mistake a spinner for another rube being spun.

I thought they believe that investigatory zeal is a virtue. Eight separate committees reported on Benghazi. The special counsel to investigate the clintons spent what, 70 or 80 million?
