Do you get annoyed when DW loads the dishwasher improperly?

Anonymous
It seems that dishwasher loading style is individual. I agree with DH that I am terrible at loading the dishwasher and let him do it. We run the dishwasher at least twice a day so obviously the dishes are getting done.

I noticed SIL's husband having the same cows that I do about dishes poorly placed in a way they will never get clean or they will be damaged. DH does exactly the same thing. He will actually put all the pots face down on the top rack, and then because there's no more room on the top rack, he starts putting glasses on the bottom rack. I try to explain that the top and bottom racks have different purposes and he acts like I'm overbearing and OCD. I'd rather be critical than have to pick broken glass out of the dishwasher.

How many times have you "picked broken glass our of the dishwasher"?

Just once. You can't put a wine glass on the bottom rack. Period.

All this anxiety over 1 broken glass.

There would be a lot more if I didn't step in and take over. You can't put glasses on the bottom rack. And pots may not come clean on the top rack. There is a method, and it's in the manual.

You should not put any wine glasses in the dishwasher, unless you live in a trailer.

Meh. We put our Reidel in the dishwasher. Top rack. Hand dry. We've only lost one or two over the last 15 years.

Sure Reidels are sold at Target, they are basically disposable.

If you really know how to pack a dishwasher properly wine glasses don't go in the dishwasher, nor do pots and pans.

You're welcome to come over to my house and hand wash the dishes with a special diaper so they don't get their feelings hurt by the dishwasher.

OMG. I can't figure out who is more messed up: the people who actually care about exactly how the dishwasher is loaded or me for reading through 4 pages of this.

We put *everything* in the dishwasher. I hate washing dishes. That's why we got the stainless steel all clad pots & pans. Throw it ALL in there. Efficiently loaded, of course.

That's funny, no man I've known knows how to load properly. But that's probably because I have amazing spatial skills. I'm also the road trip car packer.

Men have better spatial skills than women.

Maybe some men have better skills than some women, but it's not a universal truth. Let me know if you need help optimizing your dishwasher. Or loading the car.

It's called "a bell curve". Math is hard for women as well as solving spatial problems.

As long as nothing is broken and everything gets washed properly, I don't care how it's done.

I have no time for agonizing just for the sake of agonizing, OP.

Funny... Car cra ... My way or the highway dishwasher loader got her little feelings hurt being judged by her white trash version of dishwasher loading.

But men are so much lazier, it all works out even in the end.

Hell, yes, it's annoying. I hate chipped dishes!

Who cares? I recently started putting ALL my china, crystal, and silver in the dishwasher. Nobody is going to want my shit when I'm dead anyway. Might as well not have to wash it. My mom has been doing this since I've known her (half a century) and her stuff still looks great.

PS, I don't live in a trailer.

This. I cannot stand the sound of my dishes clanking together because they are not seated properly in the racks. If they are touching each other, they will not come clean and they will chip and crack.

You obviously have a trailer-worthy dishwasher, then. Get a decent one, PP, and your wine glasses will come out pristine.
