When her friend was talking about how she moved out of the city for her husband, the thought occurred to me that this show could easily be about how Carrie's life would have turned out had she married Aiden (though Aiden, of course, is much hotter than Robert ).

Totally 100% disagree. Church is not an unattractive guy, its the mustache and character he plays that makes him seem less attractive. he is also a comedic actor, and is really able to carry the "dark comedy" aspect of the show. Now, SJP - love her but she is unattractive, to me at least. I would say ee is more attractive than she is, or they are equal in that regard.

| I thought Church's acting was better the last episode. Still reminds me of a Christmas wooden nutcracker. Wonder if he was first choice for the role or who was? |
Ha, good point! I'm enjoying the show. It's like a smarter soap opera. I do think some of the writing is stale. Like when Frances was worked up about telling thre kids, you knew their reaction would be NBD. |

I liked it. She and her friends are my peers and I find it very relatable.
I don't like him and while I know she's done him wrong, I end up having more empathy for her, but my husband has more empathy to him. |

I don't really get the humor part. Seems like it's supposed to be a drama but the husband says really odd things that should be funny but just come across as awkward. There isn't even good eye candy, everyone on the show is ugly.
Love Molly Shannon it's great to see her again. |
| I don't know. I watched the most recent episode and I'm finding the story a little thin and one-note. I guess this was HBO's answer to The Affair but so far Divorce is falling flat. Too bad, because I'm a huge SJP fan. |
| I'm really starting to like Church in this. Am I the only one who thinks he's funny? Burning his finger on the fondue? First day of divorce school? Twosies? |
I agree. The humor falls flat for me. For example the whole scene where she had to go to the neighbors to use their phone in the first or second episode wasn't funny it was just uncomfortable and unbelievable. Both characters are unlikeable. SJP's character is self centered and lies at the drop of a hat. Her stbx is so wooden and unpleasant that it is hard to believe he ever found a mate. It's hard to like this show when both characters are unlikable and the dark humour isn't very humorous. |
To me his humor seems really juvenile and out of place. |
I think he's great. The mustache is ugly but he's handsome. Loved him in Wings in the 80's And I love the dry humor. |
I agree! |
agree! |
....and don't you think this is part of the story line and why she has fallen out of love with him? that's how I see it. |
No, I didn't get that impression at all. To me it seems like that's always been a part of his personality. |
