Why do men allow themselves to be jerked around?

He is a great guy. Good for bouncing things off of. When I am dating someone he is great for keeping me on an even keel and not rejecting/accepting things I shouldn't. We get a long famously and work together. He has done plenty for me in the past that is why I the things I do for him.

But you don't want to offer him the same thing by kindly offering him input as a friend about his current situation?

I do want to but he wants this to work out so bad I feel like a bad guy if I tell him that she isn't the one yet. I think he can find what he wants if he just puts a little more effort into looking. He dated a whole 6 women off some on line site and she was the best of the bunch. I didn't know much about her till he was face down in it and I just felt like an ogre coming in late and saying "not this one". I am going to buck up and tell him or some how suggest to him that maybe she is jerking him around a bit and hope he will listen.

I can't fathom why it would be anyone else's responsibility to make follow up appointments for this mans child or to get another grown adult to urgent care.
It is truly odd that you are framing making appointments for this child in terms of helping out dad when the girlfriend won't instead of helping out kid because dad is completely incompetent.
