| Op - - you are revealing too much information by "putting your husband on notice" If you're going to leave him, just leave him (once you're well enough to) |
You have hypothyroid disease. Get a blood test for tsh and for thyroid antibodies. This can become a serious and life-threatening condition over the long term, but is quite common. In the short term, you will lose hair, have diminished energy, gain weight, and have excessive period bleeding. It takes a while for the life-threatening aspects to occur, as you will be deficient in thyroid hormone over time. You will then be more susceptible to heart attack. The condition is common and treatable with a pill, but the cause of the hypothyroidism will need to be investigated. It could be due to hashimoto disease or, less likely, cancer. |
OP here. An update for anyone who is interested. My DH and I have had a serious fight and some serious discussions. He has apologized and seems to be contrite. I just got back from the doctor with DH (who served as a translator for 1.5 hours), and I'm grateful for his patience around that. He is also going to be picking up my medication from the pharmacy and making me the appointment for bloodwork that I need next. I too thought that I might have a thyroid problem, and the doctor is testing all of my hormones, but the doctor thinks that what is causing the problem is the fact that we have 4 times in the past 3 years, 2 places in the US and 2 in Europe. We only just moved to our most recent location 2 months ago, so my body might be reacting to that. I had my thyroid tested recently and it was normal. I am also not overweight, I eat well, and I exercise, so I think the chances of Hashimoto disease is probably remote? In any case, all hormones will be tested again now. I've also been thinking maybe some adrenal fatigue? Because the stress of moving has been very difficult for me. |
