| 95% of the Korean businesses in Centreville want as much business as they can get from people of all races. The only exception I can think of is a bank or transfer service that exists just to move money back and forth from Korea to the US. |
Wow. You're so witty. |
I live in this area, and yes, there are a lot of korean businesses, but the signage is always in both languages. I have actually added the Asian supermarkets to where I shop and have gotten my parents, who love to cook, hooked on them. I always go there for produce, it is so fresh and I love trying new veggies and fruits. I have never felt excluded from any of these businesses. There is a little coffee shop in the IHOP strip mall that makes a delicious coffee and awesome pastries. They have this baguette, split open in the middle, filled with whipped honey butter, yum. I have gone there with my friends and they all loved it. We have never felt like they didn't want to serve us, everyone seemed friendly. If you don't go in, you can't say they don't want to cater to you. Of course they want costumers! |
This is a nice and convenient area, I agree. I have seen several posts in the VA schools forum happy with Virginia Run school as well, not sure if this is "deeper" in centreville or not. |
Love the Asian supermarket by Giant off Lee Highway. Awesome deals on produce, and they're always so nice to my (White/Hispanic) kids - constantly giving them stickers and little gifts. |
I don't really know what "deeper" means, nor do I understand why it would "not be worth it." I suspect PP has DCUM-itis and is afraid to live near the "poors." |
I think there are Korean families pretty well dispersed through centreville. And I don think deer park has Korean immersion. Now that is an older neighborhood where you might be able to find a SFH for 400k. |
What? No, I didn't mean my post to be an insult in any way! I meant that for the money, because the condos will cost the same further off 29 (closer to Stone Rd.) as they do closer to FFX, it wasn't worth spending it there if schools are important to OP. If for the same amount of money you can be closer to more businesses and your children can go to a better rated schools it makes financial sense to do so. The further you go into Rt.29, the more it looks like the Chantilly part of FFX. If that quiet, more suburban feel is what OP is looking for, then Chantilly is a better bet because it does have better schools. I hope that was a better explanation. |
Ah, yes, that does make sense, sorry. I thought you were saying that going "deeper" into Centreville means living with undesirables and therefore isn't worth it. Apologies! |
Ugh, meant Colin Powell - sorry! |
OP here. Can you tell me what zip code it is? We were looking mostly at the neighborhoods near New Braddock Rd and also Sulley Station, mostly because commuting will be better. We don't mind diversity per say, but we do want good schools, commnity feeling and friendly neighbors. |
| OP, there are only two zips in Centreville - 20121 and 20120. 20120 is closer to Chantilly. Clifton is 20124, and encompasses Town of Clifton and "Clifton" that is essentially part of Centreville (Union Mill Rd area.) |
You can search in Redfin by elementary schools-try Colin Powell, eagle view, union mill, willow springs. |
Hey. I may live directly across the street from Centreville High School, but my address is Clifton, dammit! I live in Clifton! Just, you know, not the rich people part of town.
|
yes....my friend lives in Great Falls....the part located in Loudon.....know what you mean. I know someone who lives there off Union Mill and that area does not feel like the Clifton I know.... |
