We live in Centreville, right in the line between FFX/Clifton/Chantilly. We like the location, and our ES is very good. But I know that other Elementary Schools deeper in Centreville have very poor ratings. We can walk to Fair Lakes, We have Rt. 29, Rt. 50, the FFX Co. Pkwy, and Rt. 66 right there. We are close to shopping in FFX and Chantilly. I think it is a great location, good schools and a price cheaper than FFX which begins a block across the street. If you are moving to Centreville try to find something in this area, if you are going deeper, it's not really worth it. In that case I would just go into the part of Chantilly that is in FFX county, which feeds to Rocky Run MS and Chantilly High School. All the schools are fantastic there.
This is a nice and convenient area, I agree. I have seen several posts in the VA schools forum happy with Virginia Run school as well, not sure if this is "deeper" in centreville or not.
I don't really know what "deeper" means, nor do I understand why it would "not be worth it." I suspect PP has DCUM-itis and is afraid to live near the "poors."
What? No, I didn't mean my post to be an insult in any way! I meant that for the money, because the condos will cost the same further off 29 (closer to Stone Rd.) as they do closer to FFX, it wasn't worth spending it there if schools are important to OP. If for the same amount of money you can be closer to more businesses and your children can go to a better rated schools it makes financial sense to do so. The further you go into Rt.29, the more it looks like the Chantilly part of FFX. If that quiet, more suburban feel is what OP is looking for, then Chantilly is a better bet because it does have better schools. I hope that was a better explanation.
