There may be other reasons such as fire code that prevents them from locking the gate. Its not your place to complain as a renter.

I'm harassed daily by the property manager who literally looks for my child to touch something or make a loud noise and break the noise violation code. It's horrible and I feel helpless.

OMG, we live in a building like that, but it's more the residence who hate children.Rumor has it that kids under 4 were not allowed at the pool about 8 years ago and prior. The pool rules overrules a federal law. Kids get yelled at by elderly residents when they speak in the corridor and so on. It's so sad.

Just like on airplanes, in close confines small children are to been seen not heard. I do not want to be woken up from a nap or disturbed from my work by children screaming or running up/down halls. I pay way too much money for that.

This. Our building can't have a rooftop deck because there is only one staircase. There's probably another stair or fire escape on the other side of the gate.

If you pay so much money to live in a condo and don't want noise but a house in the burbs. This is city living. It's not quiet.

I didn't say I needed quiet, I said I don't want annoyances. That includes screaming brats. I also think it should be a rule that call kids fly in the back of the plane and all families of screaming toddlers move to the burbs so their happy kids can be happier with fresh grass, yards to tear up and only their own parents to annoy.

God didn't give you the gift of children for a reason. Do you discriminate against all persons or just children?

Grumpy assholes like you lower the property value more than kids. This especially includes screaming asshats. The city is for kids, not losers like you PP.

Exactly. I think if people have an issue with noise at all then move to the country where you have acres between you and a neighbor and lots of quiet. I totally agree that grumpy assholes lower the value more than children.

There is a balance and you need to teach you kid when its appropriate to yell - at a park or playground and use an indoor voice inside. They can walk in the halls, but run outside. Its called parenting and teaching your kid manners.

Why do you think my child is loud and runs? He doesn't. We are respectful of our neighbors.

You posted he touches the walls, windows and all kids of other stuff. What you think may be respectful, may not be to someone else.

When he was one he would touch the windows in the lobby when is get the mail. He does touch the Windows in OUR apt. He is NOT loud. He is not a rude and unruly child at all.

This original post was about a dangerous roof top area not about a child. Boy did this post just fly right into a typical dcum mom shaming post.
