Jobs for Moms?

Also in finance. My pay is 25 % less than the PP. But I telework 4 days a week. I am done by 3:30 pm everyday. I work in a stable organization and have averaged 8% merit/cola raise for last 5 years.

I do this but I make $95k plus bonus working in corporate real estate. Been at the job for 4 years so they trust me. I do travel monthly though but it's usually just to NYC for 2-3 days.

I have this job. I work for Capital One. I wfh 2-3x a week, my in office hours are 8,30 to 4. Some weeks I work in office 3x, sometimes 4x, sometimes 0x. Depends. I make about $250K.
Not a lawyer.

Bottom line: look at Capital One.

For all the pp's who are peeved at the tone of the OP, I'm finding the real substantive answers enlightening.

So many people like to bash others for not thinking practically about what to major in, or focus on, when they are younger so they can eventually get to a point where you're making 150k and wfh one day a week.

What's to say this OP can't identify that goal now and work toward it?

Not everyone on here is in their 40s.

Government Consulting

If you are starting from scratch it takes 7-15 years roughly to hit the 150k income level mainly based on promotions if you job hop you can hit it earlier

Depending on your client and agency working from home and flexible hours are possible

I'm in policy. Do this for $120K but do get an additional WFH day (2x a week not once). That said, I will probably cap out at close to this salary so will need to move on in a few years if I want to make more.

The problem that I see is that OP wants a job for "Moms", that still has a high paycheck. Those are difficult to come by and is one of the reasons we see pay inequality. Once I determined my field, I specifically looked for unisex jobs. In my experience if a department is 90% comprised of women, you can generally expect lower than average pay. Men hold out for high paying jobs. I hope this changes in the future, but for now a "Mom" job that pays well is truly hard to come by, those of us who have it have generally paid our dues and shown our worth.

DW makes that money (actually a bit more) and teleworks 90% of the time, but works 50+ hrs/week and if she is done by 4:30 to be with the kids, she is working from 8:30-11 after they go to bed.

I (same-sex couple) am done every day by 4:30, never work nights/weekends, but I never can telework and make half what my wife makes.

You gotta give and take.

Anonymous wrote:OP are you teasing? That's 90th percentile of American incomes, and you're asking for this income with one day home per week, plus leaving early, with no evident training for this job other than probably a BA in something general?

Ask moms what they're giving up for short working hours. I work part-time at a school for only 30k because I want to see my kids more and get summers off.

This is what I have, I make $180 base + 40% bonus. I was going to ask for more $$ but maybe I should thank my lucky stars instead. I do work at the office 5 days/week because I don't want to work from home but I am confident I could do that with no issues if I wanted to. My job does have some travel which I can mostly schedule around my and my family's calendar.

Wow, good to hear! I'm interviewing with Capital One now. Do you mind sharing your title/rank (not your identifying title, but the general term), ie - are you at the Manager or Director level, making $250K?

Also, is 8:30am - 4pm considered a full day? I had heard 9a-5p was the norm.

With a 40% bonus, you'd get killed in taxes.

It should also be the goal of moms and dads. Why should just moms get the Cush hours?

OP, you can't get useful information without providing your background. This is a possibility for a mom with 20 years experience as a successful salesperson, lawyer, etc. but not so much if your skills are less in demand and you have a less impressive track record in your field.
