You are a good friend to buy at Kitchenmaid Mixer! I want to be your friend!

+1, you are a good person. I would have been spitting mad.

I was! (and one could argue still am since I am posting about it!) I never spoke to her again! It ruined our friendship. She also never wrote me a thank note... nail in the coffin!!

You should have taken it back when you left!! "I'm sorry! I was clearly confused about the party. I'm such a goofball! [grabs mixer and runs out the door]"

I wrote about this earlier, that I live in an area that mostly SAHM's and military spouses. They live for this stuff. he saddest are the SAHM's whose spouse is living paycheck to paycheck, and their wives are spending money on this crap and claiming they own their own business. One said she felt sorry I had to work full time and not raise my child. I wanted to tell her I felt sorry she was too stupid to realize she's a customer, NOT an employee and definitely NOT a business owner!

I know a girl who makes 6 figures doing this. It shocks me but it is hard to judge someone so successful!

The only one I like is Usborne Books.

I did one of their Facebook parties but didn't buy anything. Seemed pretty expensive? Are the books worth it?

Sure she does. How much did she dish out in order to make that? What's her investment? What's sunk into the business? MLM is a pyramid. In order to make 6 figures, you have to pay in first, and forever.

They can't. They have chosen to be SAHMs and fooled themselves into thinking this is a good idea to remain professional and start their own business.

And with a minimal amount of effort, too. They make their money by recruiting others to "join their team". I know a mom who sells R+F and when she is not bragging on FB about how good and smart her kids are she's constantly posting about the designer trinkets she receives for meeting her sales quotas or how happy she is to be part of such an amazing company. It's like a cult.

R&F is the absolute worst about this. It's like they brainwash people. For example, the Lexus thing is a total scam. As long as you meet some proportion of the sales goal they will pay part of your lease. As soon as you don't, which is inevitable because the market is oversaturated, youre left to pay it on your own.

Mary Kay is the same way with their cars. This was apparently a shock to the woman I know who signed up to sell Mary Kay. But everyone is chasing that one successful person at the top of the pyramid, and they have conferences seemingly monthly just to get the sales people jazzed up and thinking they're "almost there."

What do you do when you see the offender at school, the grocery store or the park and they ask if you are coming?

You gave a $300 housewarming gift?

I don't sell, but I'm in a Lularoe group. Most of the clothes are ugly and unflattering (on me), but I can't stop looking at the online parties.

I read sellers make $18+ profit on each item sold, and they sell a ton of items each Facebook party. I think this might be the one profitable MLM, if you have a big enough following.

I say, "I'm sorry, I can't make it." Then I change the subject without any of the usual, "we have a sports event we are going to", or "hate to miss it, let's catch up soon!" as I would with other declines.
