The unhappy return of Bullis Mom

Once again, she's spreading her poison about a school she is no longer affiliated with, but hates with a passion. She's constantly taking this thread off-topic, to draw attention to her own deep issues. Could she please be blocked, once and for all. Thank you.

You are seriously deranged, like a queen bee wanna be. Please grow up already. You are the one constantly taking the thread off-topic, and I don't appreciate it. Please stop. Thank you.

If you had any integrity at all, you would have block copied my entire post (and we know you know how to use the block, copy, paste function; see Southern Ivy) instead of the horrible botched crop quote you managed. A few points: in its proper context, the quote was about your numerous bad actions and specific irrelevant complaints you levied against Langley and its staff that were irrelevant and a total diversion from the thread. You were the one dying to scream "VICTORY" (as you did in one of your posts which you identified yourself in). And you're putting way too much of your own bias in the definition of success. I said she "didn't succeed" as in she didn't graduate from Langley, she left and went elsewhere. The point of my post (the vast majority of the post that you ignored ) demonstrated your personal vendetta against LHS and anything relating to it. If she did in fact graduate from Langley then I apologize to you both. But your vicious baseless wanton attacks against the LHS community continue.

I tried to copy my own post to make this clear (the same post you chose 10 words from and ignored the other 100 words) but Jeff deleted it before I could do so. So no slander tears for you.

Not graduating from Langley is not succeeding? I consider it a choice - she wasn't forced out. She chose to leave. The fact you would consider that not succeeding speaks to the absolute arrogance of staff and parents in the Langley district, and tells me you are in 100% defense mode of a school and administration that clearly failed the kids by covering up a heinous act, and allowing the perp to abscond the following year with Langley parents' money.

She left and did not graduate from Langley (agreed). That's not slander or anything against your daughter (even if you say it is). We are all happy she's thriving at her southern Ivy.
But it is the catalyst for your spewing crap and ill will at all things Langley.

And this exchange is a perfect example of you trying to twist ANYTHING to suit your needs. You not only don't answer my post but you ignore the entire point of my original post which you intentionally, maliciously and with vile intent horrendously maimed and CROPPED! I demand you or Jeff re-instate my entire quote so I can defend my honor. You both are being so unfair to my prior statements and current feelings. You should both be very very careful. I tapped out some good stuff on my phone earlier and you deleteriously cropped it and he deleted it. Now it's gone forever (unless you save a screen shot for the lawsuit?). Now, lets get back to talking about those LHS things you mentioned in your recent posts: Driver's Ed classes, AP courses, homework demands, suicides, mental health professionals, holiday gifts, SAT prep, Orchestra touring Spain, club teams, tutoring, shakedowns. I'm sure there were others.

That was my question. So I googled, and discovered that there are about 100 different opinions on this. Interestingly, my alma mater makes almost every list, which I did not know. But then, I rarely name drop my college, and have never, ever said that I attended a "Southern Ivey". Turns out, you can get through a good chunk of life by saying, "we met in college" instead of "we met at our southern Ivey". So that one line tells me everything I need to know about Bullis mom.

I encouraged her to go to a no-name school. She wanted a name due to her pursuit of a career in medicine. This is what DCUM parents call these schools in the college forum. I thought y'all would realize that?

You should have told her that when applying to med school, the undergrad school doesn't matter. She needs great grades, test scores, recommendations and preferably good work experience. Unless you have money to burn, arriving at the med school steps with no debt is big too. Now I'll wait for you to tell me why I'm wrong. Unicorns and rainbows and whatnot.

Almost nobody on the college forum uses the term "Southern Iveys," and certainly nobody who attends or attended one of these schools (like me) would ever refer to them as such. To begin with, there is an actual Ivey League, and it is made up of certain recognized schools. There is no Southern Ivey (I prefer the term Magnolia-- gag) League, and there is no consensus on what schools are Southern Iveys. It is a 100% artificial construct.

And the point isn't whether your DD goes to a "name" school or a "no name" school. It's that you refer to colleges as being either "Southern Iveys" or "no name" and don't get how very pretentious that is. Harvard is in the Ivey League. Fact. Wake Forest, Duke, Vanderbilt, Emory -- depending on who you ask, these might or might not qualify as members of the fictional SIL. See the difference? FWIW, I think saying your DC goes to an " Ivey" is also a little pompous-- but it does at least have the benefit of being factually correct.

The 'crap' I 'spew' about Langley seems to be supported by NBC.

I said nothing about holiday gifts or SAT prep, Orchestra touring Spain. Nor did I say anything about club teams tutoring and shakedowns. That wasn't me. Perhaps there are multiple posters with issues. I didn't save a screenshot of your post - no need. Someone said that my daughter wasn't mentioned in a negative way. I felt your comment was negative. I see now that it's simply part of the arrogance that surrounds the school. I live here in the Langley district and am quite familiar with it. Should have picked it up the first time.

Homework demands, suicides, mental health professionals, yes, that was me. They were topics covered at numerous parent/administration coffees as well.

A good example of a thread using that term:

I did. She's a victim of the elitism of the DC area. Trust me, we tried! The benefit of the school she's in, is if she keeps her grades above a certain GPA, it's quite easy to transition to the medical school. There are advantages in that regard for sure!

This is one of the wackiest threads I've seen on DCUM, and I followed the bobcat hunter thread in real time.

I missed those topics in the NBC report. I did't realize they were relevant to the thread topic. My apologies.
And it's not arrogance, you're overly-sensitive about your daughter. No one, no one has criticized her. Again, we're all thrilled she's thriving. Enough of us have said this, I wish you'd just accept it.

Maybe the elitism exists more at Bullis. Or at least not for everyone in DC. My son graduated from Langley, went to VCU and is now in its med school via the "guaranteed admissions" program. Win win.

Maybe. My own DD went to a "no name" local (Catholic) high school. She's all in at a name brand college though.
