When Robin Williams gets Matt Damon to break down in Good Will Hunting.
"Its not your fault, son" Also when Affleck realizes he's gone for good at the end. Never change the station when that one's on. |
| The tango scene in Scent of a Woman. |
|
A Time To Kill - Mathew McConaughey giving his summation at trial and talking about the little girl and at the end he tells the all white jury "can you picture her , can you see her in your mind?"" Now, imagine she is white"
I have never seen such realistic portrayal of white people's bias is movie. |
I know that you love me, don't ever do that to yourself, ok? OMG!! |
| Craig T. Nelson pouring root beer on the lawn and scattering the crows after his daughter Alex dies of Cystic Fibrosis in "Alex the Life of a Child." |
I still remember seeing that for the first time. I took an audible breath-it is such a powerful moment. |
I remember when I was a kid, my mom telling me she just couldn't watch that movie. At the time, I didn't understand why-sure it was sad, but so were a lot of movies we watched. Then I grew up. And had kids. I get it now, mom. |

Another vote for the curb-stomping scene in American History X. The shower rape scene stuck with me, too.
|
| The part of "It's a Wonderful Life" where Jimmy Stewart is at the bar and he says "I'm now a praying man" and he's almost crying. It always makes me cry. |
| The first scene of "Cliffhanger" where the girl's harness breaks and Sly Stallone can't save her. |
Yes exactly! Ugh makes me want to throw up even thinking about it. |
"IS THAT MY DAWWWWWTERRRR IN THEEERRRRE?" |
That scene is so overwrought, I can't even watch it. I watch that film every time it's on, but always flip to something else during that. To me the most moving part is after Shelby has the surgery and is talking to her coworker about Halloween, loses her balance a bit, then she goes home and passes out when she picks up her son. |
Yes! I have rather poor "movie memory" and even that I really like "Love actually" it is almost like a new movie to me when I rewatch except for THAT scene. Probably the saddest scene in all of the Curtis' movies. And except for a great choice of a song there is not a single word spoken. |
Me, too. I hate it and think about it way too often. |
