If that's the case, what are the DC cops doing about it? Or do the dispatchers think it's Bethesda? |
Well then S.E. across the river near MD. isn't city life either... Shut up you moron, and go back to the Midwest or Massachussetts... or wherever your from. |
Interesting. This appears to make wearing the niqab in public a felony in Virginia. |
Um, one exit is in MD, the other exit, across the street is in DC. You do know this, right? |
DC is FAR from "city life". It might me rough and there may be crime, but it's no New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles. It's a tiny little town. Yawn. |
You are, moron. |
People have been talking about this area being "newly dangerous" since the construction of Chevy Chase Pavilion in the late 80s-early 90s. Unconcerned. |
Oooooo, caught a typo. Good for you. Would you like a cookie? Oink Oink. |
Is anyone on the listserv for the neighborhood and can share more info about what happened in both robberies? I walk alone at night from the Metro - I'm always careful about my surroundings anyway (no I'm not a pearl clutched but am a rape survivor so I am sufficiently traumatized enough that I prefer to have more info than less and also prefer to know descriptions of criminals particularly if they are committing serial crimes - and yes I understand robbery does not equal rape but I'm still always going to be anxious about being a victim). Anyway any further info beyond what was in the Post article would be greatly appreciated. |
If only people had a way to communicate about potential threats to their stores or neighbors...

I love how people are unconcerned until it happens to them or their family or friends. If you aren't disconcerted by the thought of 10 people surrounding your child or yourself than there is genuinely something wrong with you. |
I'm sorry for that one, single person who got surrounded. I truly am. I find the incident "disconcert[ing].' OTOH, I understand statistics and have a good grasp of odds and probabilities. Therefore, I remain "untroubled" and will not change my behavior on this basis of this crime. -- lives ~ 41st on the other side of Wisconsin |
This is what was posted on the tenleytown lsit serv:
Alert: Robbery F&V in the 4400 B/O Davenport St NW. LOF 8-10 males 14-18 yoa all wearing ski-masks & hoodies DO NOT TAKE ACTION CALL 911 W/ EVENT #I20150717751 Sent to 2nd District (PSA 201-208) Alert DC Sent by MPD Cad #5760 "LOF" = "Look out for" "yoa" = "years of age" Robbery "F&V" means "force and violence," ie, no weapons ----- A resident sent the report below suggesting the robbers from the 44th and Davenport robberies may have committed at least one other robbery in the neighborhood. There was a similar crime about a week ago. Until the police arrest suspects in these crimes, please be especially alert as you go about your business. - - - - - Our neighbor had the same similar incident happen right before or after this incident. This was at the corner of 47th and Butterworth. They were not injured, they could run back to their home, but they were scared and are now waiting to talk more to police. ------ I think that is all that has been posted aside from people asking for more information. |
PP here, sorry just saw one more post:
I mentioned earlier that there had been a similar robbery about a week ago. A constituent wrote me to say her son was the victim. She suggested I share some details of the attack anonymously: my son was assaulted at 42nd and Chesapeake, just past GDS on 42nd Street at 12:30 in the afternoon on the day before Thanksgiving. 5 guys (approx 18-21 yo) surrounded him, punched and kicked him to the ground, and grabbed his cell phone, running off and laughing. Luckily he was okay (physically, at least) - he is a strong young 20's young adult -- not a kid -- but it was incredibly scary that such an incident could happen down the street from our house in the middle of the day. Really bad. I don't want to think about what could have happened if he had fallen back and hit his head... This certainly looks like a pattern. Until the police can catch the offenders (or they move on), please be especially aware and consider going out in groups. CM Cheh will join us at the next ANC 3E meeting, which is this Thursday, beginning at 7 pm, in the Tenleytown I room of the Chevy Chase Embassy Suites. Lt. Hill from MPD will be there, as will, I suspect, Cmdr. Gresham. If you are concerned about these crimes, the gun that recently made its way into Wilson HS, or crime in general, please consider attending the meeting. |
