Infertility Support and Discussion
| Love that that poster was so offended by apparent profanity Dr. D used during her consult when she is throwing around such harsh words and use of profanity herself -- hilarious! I don't know Dr. D or Dr. G or Dominion at all but sometimes these posts just crack me up -- so crazily over the top. |
| I agree Avoid GIVF and Dr K at all costs. Waste of time and money. Worst experience ever |
| GIVF and Shady Grove are both mills with disorganized staff and rude doctors. |
| GIVF sucks !!!! |
|
Sharara at VCRM is bad - I would skip him. Greedy doctor that overcharges for tests and makes you pay for everything up front before you have anything done! The tests I took from him were not needed and way overpriced. Other clinics do not do this.

I agree with the people that say that GIVF is a bad choice. I had a very bad experience with them and Dr Kultresha. She totally used me as a guinea pig, put me on a very aggresive protocol , where there was no need for such and then when I was hyperstimulated , they made me think I was too nervous and made me have to talk to a counselor! , like it was my fault they're lack of proffessionalism. They were so awful .I definately won't recommend her , not even to my worst enemy.

| People love him, but I had a very bad experience with Dr. Sacks. My subsequent RE called CFA's procedures malpractice. If you are willing to travel, CCRM (in Colorado) truly is the best. I ended up going through SG and had a good experience with all of the drs I dealt with there. |
Would you mind providing more details? Thanks |
| I have done 3 cycles at Dominion, one resulted in my son. I cannot reiterate enough how awful my experience has been with Dr. D. He has been mean and condescending, but his location is convenient and he did get me pregnant. He is callous and doesn't seem to understand the emotional aspect of dealing with infertilty. He also does not create an environment in which one feels comfortable asking questions. He takes it as an affront to his knowledge and experience. If we didn't have frozen embryos, I would never return to him. |
My experience too!! He actually said to me "don't insult my intelligence" when I had asked him questions about my treatment!!! I couldn't believe it! I thought, jeez this guy is very defensive and paranoid for some reason. |
| I went to GIVF and had Dr. K. She had me do a test that was very painful and afterwards she told me "some people do need anesthesia for this procedure." I could have told her up front that I would be one of them but it was never offered. She also pushed pretty hard for me to use donor eggs. I got pregnant naturally without any of the cycle stuff you guys went through. But, I was pissed that my pregnancy counted as a "success" for them. But, the nurses were very nice with sonograms etc. |
. How did they counted your pregnancy as a success if you got pregnant naturally and didn't cycle with them? , that's impossible. Are u saying that they cheated and added u to their stats? |
Is it possible to return to Dominion and use Dr. Gordon for your frozen embryos? I ask because we're just starting down this road (initial consult with Dr. Gordon next wee) and I'm curious how they manage their patient relationships. Do you get assigned to Dr. D or Dr. G and then stick with that one all the way through? Or do you see both doctors throughout the process? |
Well, my RE was Dr. G, and I can tell you what happened in my situation. I would say Dr. G was probably at 95% of ALL my appointments with my IVFs. (My IUIs the nurses did a lot of the monitoring). On occasion (especially on weekends in the summer) my monitoring was done by a third RE who was there during the summer to help 'fill in'. I think Dr. D did a few lining checks sessions just before my FET and did my baseline monitoring before my 3rd IVF. To be honest, I think Dr. G becomes very involved with his patients, so he makes sure that he does most of your treatment and monitoring. I also know, from the nurses, that he delayed the start of some of my cycles so that he was sure that he would be back in the office (from a business trip or a family vacation) for my entire cycle. Delaying a cycle is no problem if you are on birth control pills or lupron. So...with my interactions with Dr. G being so consistent, I very rarely had interactions with Dr. D. But to be honest, what interactions I did have with him, they were OK. Certainly not hand holding...more matter of fact, get down to business interactions. But I just attributed that to the fact that I was not his patient and that he didn't know me the way that Dr. G knew me. What is interesting to me...from this forum...is what appears to be such a huge range of experiences with Dr. D. I mean, when I was sitting in the office for my monitoring sessions, his patients seemed just as happy with him as I was with Dr. G. Just as many came in to him, hugging and thanking him, as were coming in to Dr. G. Also, in some 'out of the office' interactions I have had with him...just as many, if not more, of his patients were there, absolutely thrilled with their treatment and success. And even though I wasn't his patient, per se, he was just as interested in my clinical case, just as thrilled with our outcome, and just as thankful for our participation in this forum as Dr. G. And, to be honest, if it were my husband that was going through all of the treatment, we would have been better off going to Dr. D...because they just 'click' with each other really well. I don't know...interesting. WLD |
| No one has mentioned GW Medical Faculty Associates. If you live in the District, this is a great place to go. Dr. Frankfurter really knows his stuff and explains everything very clearly. Compassionate nurses and great care. GW is non-profit, which made me feel more comfortable. They do not have the high stats of SG and others, but they are also very clear about the risks of multiples so perhaps fewer women opt to implant two embryos. The choice is always yours, of course. Good luck. |
