Any bad fertility doctors?

I had a wonderful and successful experience with Dominion and Dr. Gordon.

Yes, Dr. D can be abrupt at times, and VERY straight forward...but at one appointment, if he hadn't been so abrupt and given me the quick kick in the butt that I needed, I might not have my two little ones in my arms right now.

As a pp said...not everyone has the same experience with the same people.

I'm a NC patient and I love Dominion, they gave me a chance when others told me no and I'm going to deliver any day now.

Yes Lincoln and Udoff at Givf are good, from what I have heard. But unfortunaly I didnt got any of them while cycling there, I had a recommendation for Dr Kultresha, from someone I knew at work. She was awful, first they messed up my clomid iui, and then she rushed us to do ivf. During my ivf I only saw her for a sonogram, where she said I had 5 eggs, I went two days after and the tech found 20 big ones. After that I never saw her again, which at this time , I didnt mind. She was atually scheduled to be there the Sunday of my retrieval, but she said she had a family emergency or something and wasnt there. I saw Doctor Jones for both retrieval and transfer, he was nice. The ivf didnt work. I transfer my embryos to SG , but wont be using them soon, since the doctor there reviewed the stimulation protocol that Dr Kultresha had me in, and concluded that most likely the embryos are not ok do to her stimulation protocol, which he coulndt belive she gave me such high dosages. I was so depressed after this experience with GIVF that I stop a ouple of months for a break and now SG inherited a very paranoid patient because of her.

Is rude to his staff in front of patients. Is rude to patients when they ask questions and just in general. Raises his voice at patients for really no reason. He raised his voice with me and a friend of mine. Both of us were "good patients" who were paying attention and just got confused/didn't do something to his liking. His nurse gave me her home phone number before I started an IVF cycle with him and told me "the doctor does not like to be disturbed with questions on the weekends." WTF? Aren't I your customer?

Paulette Browne at SG, David Frankfurter at GW, Dr. Greenhouse at SG all good dr's. I have direct experience with Browne and Frankfurter and have heard from multiple people good things about Greenhouse. Best of luck.

I only used SG. Got PG after 3 IUIs. Love Dr Greenhouse and other doctors. They are all very professional.

GIVF and Dr K is horrible- 4 wasted IUIs- could go on- recommend Dr greenhouse at SG- great- we have DC2 thanks to him and the staff- interviewed all top res and he was the one- luckily i was right.. we did go to dr asmar who pused donor egg even after being pregnant 4 times before (m/c) telling me I could never get pregnant- well I did with DC1 after ONE IUI- he and his staff were so depressing- I cried since they told me I had no chance for a kid with my own eggs.. So now I have 2 kids (and not twins)

I thought columbia fertility was the most disorganized place ever - i switched to sg.

I thought Columbia was the best.

Signed a SG reject with two Columbia IVF successes.

All of the disparaging comments about Dr. Dimattina are horrendous. Yes, he is abrupt and arrogant, but he is NOT a bad doctor. he performed a surgery on me after my regular OB/GYN missed an ectopic pregnancy (told me it was a miscarriage), and he could not have been more professional and amazing. He spent quite a bit of time with my husband and my parents assuring them that I would be OK, that we would have children, etc. In his office he can be very arrogant, but my experience with him during that surgery and my 2 subsequent IVFs (2nd resulted in successful twin pregnancy), were terrific.

He is NOT for everybody, but he is NOT a bad doctor.

OP - I think a lot of the experiences people have with REs have to do with their own personalities and that of the doctors. If you want hand-holding, you need to find that particular type of doctor (Dr. Gordon). If you want no bs, I'm gonna get you pregnant, confidence that comes across as arrogance but with success to back it up, you see another doctor (Dr. Dimattina). I think Dominion has BOTH of these types of doctors with a terrific support staff.

PP, I agree with you about Dr. DiMattina, he may be abrupt at times but he is a very good doctor, and he helped us get pregnant twice after numerous failures at SG.

pp 9:57...it's OK...when I first came on here I was appalled at the number of disparaging comments about Dr. D. And sickened by some of the accusations that were being made regarding those posting their praises of Dominion.

But really, it is all about each person's experience with being TREATED by Dr. D and Dr. G...many of the disparaging comments are coming from those who weren't even DF patients, just went in for a consult.

Those of us who have gone the whole route with DF...well, we know...

And no one can disparage a practice that has many successful, happy patients!

um, Hi Dr. Dimattina! Glad to know that you are still surfing DCUM!"

Seriously, we found you to be the most arrogant and obnoxious clinician we have ever met. As you know, you were FAR, FAR more concerned at name dropping during our appointment then talking about our infertility. We really could care less that you know "so and so" colleague of ours and actually swearing during the consultation was so not cool. Yes, we know you're a big guy and can talk like one. Just please leave the profanity to your personal relationships.
Thankfully, we saw through your self-promotion and hightailed it out of there. Instead of following your crummy advice we got pregnant the very next cycle with SG.

14:38, I am not the WE.LOVE.DOMINION poster, but clearly you have some issues. Why are you so angry with Dr. DiMattina? So you didn't like him and went somewhere else and got pregnant, yeah for you! But why on earth would you continue to disparage him when you had ONE encounter with him?

As someone who went to Dominion, got excellent treatment and care, and now has two beautiful children to show for it, I know FIRSTHAND what an excellent clinic this is. And when I went on bedrest for 11 weeks, Dr. Gordon visited me EVERY WEEK at Fairfax Hospital. I guarantee you won't get that level of personal care from SG, especially after release to your OB/GYN.

Take your anger elsewhere, please.

I can't comment on Dr Gordon -- but I can say that I have gotten a similar level of service from SG. I did 3 rounds of IVF with Dr Widra and then decided to leave the shared risk program and go to Cornell (which means that I basically paid nothing for 3 rounds of IVF). When I talked it through with Dr Widra about my decision, he said that he still considered me to be his patient and that I should feel free to call him with questions and see him for local monitoring if I want. My nurse from SG also encouraged me to continue to contact her (even giving me her cell number and non-work email in case there are questions she can answer while I am at Cornell). Also, while Cornell is going to tweak my treatment and use co-culture (something no clinic in DC offers) my doctor there did not expect dramatically different results from what we saw at SG, which makes me think that Cornell considers SG to be a solid clinic.

Did not have a good experiance at GIVF, not sure they know what they are doing. But Shady Grove is the way to go. I went to Fairoaks, and they are wonderful. Great place to get thejob the done..
