What fills you up that is healthy?

I think the most filling vegetable is brussels sprouts. I can feel satisfied after a dinner with a reasonable protein serving and a big serving of brussels sprouts (I have a big appetite). If you don't think you like brussels sprouts, try this -- cut them in half after cutting the end off. Toss them in some olive oil and a little pepper and a healthy dash of sea salt. Put on a cookie sheet in the oven at 400 degrees for 20-23 minutes, tossing halfway through. Delicious.

One of the reasons that people are getting overweight is that they often mistake thirst for hunger.

If you are hungry between meals, start by drinking 8-16 oz of water. Wait 5 minutes. If you are still hungry, have a small snack. You'll often find that you'll eat less this way. After that, a 100 calorie portion of anything will work. Just make sure to rotate protein, fat, carbs, veggies/fruit so that you balance out what you are eating. So, one time have a handful of nuts. Next time, have a piece of fruit. Next time have and oatmeal bar.

Protein is what does it for me. I've been eating hardboiled eggs for breakfast every day this week (leftover easter eggs) and 1 egg and 1 piece of toast fills me until lunch. Maybe there was something to the standard egg breakfasts back in the 50s/60s.

Also do almond butter and banana on an english muffin, oatmeal, greek yogurt, salad with grilled chicken (the pregrilled stuff from Trader Joes is good, or we just grill up extra chicken sometimes).
