Um, what??? Nobody bothered to scrutinize my husband and I before we had kids. And I bet if we scrutinized the OP's lifestyle we would all agree that he isn't fit to be a parent given the hatred and intolerance he spews. I have several gay friends who adopted kids from the foster care system. They were scrutinized...like any adoptive couple...and they are amazing parents. Parading their lifestyle in classrooms? So I guess there's a gay family at your snowflake's school and that bothers you? Don't worry, OP...your presence at school bothers the rest of us but we do our best to tolerate you. |
Wow, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, pp. But people like you who are so rabidly homophobic tend to be struggling with homosexuality themselves. It's okay if you are gay, pp. Step out of the closet. We won't judge you. |
PP here. So quoting the bible which is the foundation of Christianity, which was at one time was studied and read daily in our schools, was quoted by the founding fathers of this nation, that makes me homophobic and a closet queer? No, you are mistaken, severely mistaken. What needs to happen is more Christians need to stop hiding in the closet out of fear of being called names and stand up against the wicked queers who parade their shameful sin as something to be proud of. Disgusting. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness --2 Timothy 3:16 The bible is my source-text for how to live a Christian life. Basically what you are saying is, someone who truly believes in God, takes Jesus' words at face value, is a bigot and a homophobe. Yes, I am bigoted against homosexuals just as I am bigoted against liars, and drug addicts, and murderers, and thieves. I am bigoted against evildoers, the only remedy being Jesus who will cleanse such people from their sins. |
| My end game is to end all government recognition of church marriages. I think every adult should get to marry one other adult (I'd be fine with more than one, but we aren't there yet) in a civilly (government) recognized marriage with whatever rights come along with that and, in addition, a religious organization can also choose to marry you if you meet whatever qualifications they have and you get whatever rights that come along with that. |
|
End game? To have people who are anti-gay "marriage" stop using quotes when they talk of marriage and to treat everyone equally.
|
It is, actually, a good question. Why do churches get tax deductions? It is, however, separate from the equal marriage question. |
|
I would have to imagine it would be to have one group stop thinking they are more important than another and to stop making another group feel they are less equal because they are different than YOU! This was the same rationalization used against minorities for years. What gives you the 'right' to define what marriage is for others?
One more part of the endgame - to stop having people refer to gay "marriage" in quotes because they don't agree with it or consider it a real marriage. Again, just because it isn't a marriage YOU would chose doesn't mean it isn't a 'real' marriage. |
Why should gay people receive different (more?) scrutiny than straight people in the adoption process? |
Did you adopt? Had you, would you have had to apply and be scrutinized. Yes. |
This may all be true. (I think you have a sad and horrifying view of Christianity, but that's your business.) But it really has nothing to do with people having equal rights under secular law. That is the "endgame" here. I'll let each individual worry about his or her immortal soul - but while we're here on earth, in the United States, everyone should get an equal shake when it comes to civil rights. |
| Porn marriage rocks! That's my platform in 2016. |
Why should churches get a tax deduction anyway? |
So it starts- my point exactly. This can only end in a frontal assualt on Christianity. |
And what are your premonitions of just what exactly this assault would entail? |
I agree. The "endgame" is that all citizens should have equal protection and rights when it comes to adoption, parenting, taxation, and medical decision making. |
