Gay "marriage" supporters - what is your endgame?

It's two adults in a loving and committed relationship sharing a home, finances, etc. Their families are just like other families. Like my kid said at age 5 when gay marriage was a big political issue on tv: "What's the big deal? A man can marry a woman. A man can marry a man. A woman can marry a woman. Who cares? As long as they are happy, who cares?" If my 5 year old gets it, then why can't the rest of the world?

Honestly, it all comes down to this:

If YOU don't like gay marriage, then YOU simply don't enter into one. Period. But there's no need to concern yourself with who other people marry. It's called live and let live...try it.

But to answer your question, OP: the end game is to see my gay friends welcomed by all religious faiths and political persuasions. It's f'ing 2015 and this is the USA, so you'd think that would be an attainable goal.

Happy Easter/Passover, OP!

Gays already could live together. Legal marriage allows them to adopt children with no scrutiny of their lifestyle, parade their lifestyle in classrooms with young children, etc etc.

Um, what??? Nobody bothered to scrutinize my husband and I before we had kids. And I bet if we scrutinized the OP's lifestyle we would all agree that he isn't fit to be a parent given the hatred and intolerance he spews.

I have several gay friends who adopted kids from the foster care system. They were scrutinized...like any adoptive couple...and they are amazing parents.

Parading their lifestyle in classrooms? So I guess there's a gay family at your snowflake's school and that bothers you? Don't worry, OP...your presence at school bothers the rest of us but we do our best to tolerate you.

Going to church does not make you a Christian nor does it mean you shall enter heaven. There are murderers, liars, adulterers, drunks, pedarasts and pedophiles who sit in the church appearing good on the outside but on the inside are utterly depraved and wicked.

God created male and female to be together. A homosexual who says "I am a Christian and I am gay; it is who I am" is the same as a murderer saying "I am a Christian and I molest little boys; it is who I am."

Jesus declaring that marriage is between male and female:
“Have you not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh.h Matthew 19

How many more times does this have to be said? Calling yourself a Christian but living a lifestyle of a non-Christian means you are not a Christian. A true, believing Christian takes seriously the words of Jesus. Christians do not willingly, actively practice murder, homosexuality, stealing, and other sins.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
1 Corinthians 6:9

Notice at the end: "some of you were doing this but you have been cleansed of your sins." Gays can be cleansed of the sin of homosexuality the same as murderers can repent of their deeds and stop doing it.

Do not be deceived and believe the lies that you can live contrary to God's laws and you'll be just peachy with Jesus. Nope, does not happen. Those who love God obey his commandments because the commands are true and righteous and lead to holiness which God has commanded: Be ye holy as I am holy.

Wow, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, pp. But people like you who are so rabidly homophobic tend to be struggling with homosexuality themselves. It's okay if you are gay, pp. Step out of the closet. We won't judge you.

PP here. So quoting the bible which is the foundation of Christianity, which was at one time was studied and read daily in our schools, was quoted by the founding fathers of this nation, that makes me homophobic and a closet queer? No, you are mistaken, severely mistaken.
What needs to happen is more Christians need to stop hiding in the closet out of fear of being called names and stand up against the wicked queers who parade their shameful sin as something to be proud of. Disgusting.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness --2 Timothy 3:16

The bible is my source-text for how to live a Christian life. Basically what you are saying is, someone who truly believes in God, takes Jesus' words at face value, is a bigot and a homophobe.

Yes, I am bigoted against homosexuals just as I am bigoted against liars, and drug addicts, and murderers, and thieves. I am bigoted against evildoers, the only remedy being Jesus who will cleanse such people from their sins.

My end game is to end all government recognition of church marriages. I think every adult should get to marry one other adult (I'd be fine with more than one, but we aren't there yet) in a civilly (government) recognized marriage with whatever rights come along with that and, in addition, a religious organization can also choose to marry you if you meet whatever qualifications they have and you get whatever rights that come along with that.

End game? To have people who are anti-gay "marriage" stop using quotes when they talk of marriage and to treat everyone equally.

Then they will say, why tax deduction to hate?

That's how they will attack, and you can bet your life on it.

Because it's not just their plan, it's the devil's.

It is, actually, a good question. Why do churches get tax deductions? It is, however, separate from the equal marriage question.

I would have to imagine it would be to have one group stop thinking they are more important than another and to stop making another group feel they are less equal because they are different than YOU! This was the same rationalization used against minorities for years. What gives you the 'right' to define what marriage is for others?

One more part of the endgame - to stop having people refer to gay "marriage" in quotes because they don't agree with it or consider it a real marriage. Again, just because it isn't a marriage YOU would chose doesn't mean it isn't a 'real' marriage.

It's a legal wedge to adopt kids without scrutiny, to have gay lifestyles appear in front of young kids etc.

Without scrutiny? People who want to adopt should be scrutinized.

Gay lifestyles already appear in front of young kids. How are you going to enforce feelings? Curious

Why should gay people receive different (more?) scrutiny than straight people in the adoption process?

Did you adopt? Had you, would you have had to apply and be scrutinized. Yes.

This may all be true. (I think you have a sad and horrifying view of Christianity, but that's your business.) But it really has nothing to do with people having equal rights under secular law. That is the "endgame" here. I'll let each individual worry about his or her immortal soul - but while we're here on earth, in the United States, everyone should get an equal shake when it comes to civil rights.

Why should churches get a tax deduction anyway?

So it starts- my point exactly. This can only end in a frontal assualt on Christianity.

And what are your premonitions of just what exactly this assault would entail?

I agree. The "endgame" is that all citizens should have equal protection and rights when it comes to adoption, parenting, taxation, and medical decision making.
