I have BTDT as the friend who was told before anyone else. I have had two friends go through similar situations and was one of the first people to be told. I became a cruise director of sorts, taking the friends' kids on excursions, overnights, etc to protect the children and the parents, give space, support, etc.

OP I urge you to confide in a friend or two, talking about it and crying with someone might make you feel so much better. Ask that friend for help. Some people would love to help but often don't know what,mbut when asked totally step up. Do you need help with everyday tasks (ask friend to bring food, help with laundry, clean house, etc), help with kids (host play dates, keep kids overnight, drive to school, etc) or need some mental breaks (have friend take you out). You are only one person and one person can on,y handle so much.

Protecting your job is super important. I hate to say it but ii wouldn't mention anything to work at this time.
