| They were putting on the kind of show that the media was practically foaming at the mouth with eagerness to cover. |
Exactly. What a ridiculous contradiction. I am Black. I am an individual. No one person or group speaks for me. |
Do I really have to explain it? Have you watched the news coverage today? |
Yes, you really have to explain it. Please do. |
All those crazy ass people stealing TVs and cigarettes are claiming to speak for you. |
| OP, the point is basically free stuff. |
+1. The psychology behind rioting is not fully understood. It usually begins with a few bad apples and the mob forms, mostly of people who would never engage in the behaviour under normal circumstances. The most destructive and deadly riot in American history was a white one, for what it's worth. New York, 1863. |
PP again. I also think rioting & looting has become self-perpetuating. People saw lots of rioting and looting on television after the Rodney King jury chose not to convict the police officers involved in the beating. Since then, it seems most major confrontations now involve some rioting and looting. I think people see it on TV, and think that's just acceptable behavior is a confrontation involving the police. In a similar vein, it seems like US sports fans began rioting after big team victories. I remember some big riot in the 1980s when the riot got huge and fans flipped and burned a car (Michigan maybe? Kansas?). It was all over the TV, and there was tons of discussion about how insane and over-the-line fans were. But not long after that, other US sports fans somewhere else flipped and burned a car in a post-victory riot. Now, it seems almost every major sports victory results in rioting by fan. I think people see it on TV and decide that's permissible behavior. |
Please provide a clip of somebody stealing a TV, or cigarettes, while saying, "I speak for the black community." And do you also think that white people who steal TVs and cigarettes are claiming to speak for the white community? |
You are being purposely obtuse. Could you even type that out with a straight face? |
STFU No they are not Did you see someone grabbing a TV and stopping and telling people: "This is for all the millions of other black people I don't know!! STFU AGAIN |
Darren Wilson didn't cause this rioting and cause. Don't blame him or the jury over the destruction and stealing. And it's not about 'more interested in a burned out weave store than the taking of lives'....these residents and shopkeepers 100% aren't responsible for Brown's death. We can agree with that, right? Why should they have to bear the brunt of the anger?? |
|
It's really not that hard to understand, folks. |

The Washington Post has a bizarre caption on a photo of a looter. It's #41 "A protester walks out of a store with goods in Ferguson, Missouri. David Goldman/AP"
Was he shopping and bought a take-out meal? http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/grand-jury-to-reveal-decision/2014/11/24/69d89410-71ad-11e4-ad12-3734c461eab6_gallery.html?hpid=z2 |
