| I've never understood looting. So you destroy the businesses in your neighborhood so you dont have anywhere convenient to shop. If I were those businesses I'd get the hell out of there and never look back. |
| It's young, angry men who are using the protests as an excuse to behave badly. There was a peaceful protest that went through Ferguson last night, full of grownups. But of course the TV covered that for approx. 3 minutes. |

I am not an AA. I have never been stopped and frisked while walking down the street. I have never been detained for something I did not do. I do not have people eying me when I walk into a store. If I have an open container, I am asked to put it away....I am not arrested first. When I did something wrong, I was told don't let it happen again.
Ask almost any AA male, there experience differs. I can only imagine the rage that builds up. No opportunities coupled with anger...what the hell? |

| I'm watching the news and I saw a young AA girl smiling as she was looting a store. I mean really. People are out there for "fun" and sight seeing. There is no point. |
I don't believe for one minute that you are black. |
NP here. I'm not black but I'm embarrassed for the black community. None of the black people I know would participate in the looting. What parents would even let their children go out last night? It's disgraceful. |
Why? because he/she didn't spell out niggas when he/she could have? |

People are frustrated and furious. If people feel their lives do not matter to the society as a whole, that they are not seen or heard, they react. It's is tantamount of a tantrum for the seemingly disenfranchised. I don't agree with violence and criminal behaviour, but I have enough sense to understand or at least, try to understand the reaction.
What I still find amazing, is that so many people cannot follow the logic and are more interested in a burned out weave store than the taking of lives that has lead to this intense, self-destructive reaction. *sigh* |

I don't think the looting has anything to do with race. It's just the power of the mob.

Neither do I. |
Really? REALLY? REALLY? |
The entire freaking point of whats going on is race! Those two articles are a bunch of crap excuses. |
If you're not black, and none of the black people you know would participate in the looting, then why, exactly, are you embarrassed for "the black community"? |
OP here: But that's my question... WHY react by STEALING? Have a tantrum by screaming and yelling, or destroying that which is affecting you. Taking a TV home helps them how? It just causes us idiots that "cannot follow the logic" to believe they're in it just to be in it, not even understanding what they are fighting for. I do appreciate yours and 8:58's explanation of feelings behind it, though, thank you. |
