I'm still waiting for you to tell us how you know about "magnet bingo", and specifically who assigned "magnet bingo" to specifically which magnet population. Not to mention what "magnet bingo" is. |
I don't know about every school, but at Blair I'm pretty certain anyone can view the scattergrams via the Counseling Center part of the school Web site. I believe they give you a guest code to look. Other schools may do the same. |
Magnet parents know the answer to all your questions. We don't need them answered. It exists. |
They know the answer, and yet they're not saying. I wonder why that is? |
LOL! What an obvious fraud you are. Do you really have nothing better to do with your time? |
|
Reading through this thread and i haven't seen any discussion of why bingo is so bad for the magnet students. Has it actually replaced the coursework for a particular class? Are they playing it every day of the week? Once a week? Or once a month/once a semester?
I have no problem with games in general in school because kids actually learn a lot through games. More so games of strategy than games of chance, but if it's a once in a while fun activity used as a reward or to act as an incentive, I can't really fear the sky is falling down just because the kids played bingo in their classroom. |
| Nearly every thread about gifted education, magnet programs and/or Blair gets derailed by one person who seems to be obsessed with the principal. This person also wants to convince people that the Blair math and science magnet is getting "dumbed down" (a phrase he/she often uses) despite numerous posts by other magnet parents that clearly refute his/her claims. Even if you can show this is not the case this person does not care - he/she just keeps repeating their assertions. So, it might be more constructive to simply set the record straight and then disengage. |
I have been reading these threads for a long time. It seems that there is a group intent on making sure Blair is not looked at. There are serious problems at the school. Some of our kids didn't get their college applications processed properly. This happened after the magnet counsellors were removed. And yes ... a senior did tell Starr that the magnet is being absorbed into the main school. Many parents don't want to provide any "proof" that some of you demand because our experience at Blair is proof enough. It is dumb to assume on an anonymous forum that you can say who is writing about Blair. Nor can you say how many are. Blair is a lost cause fro many of us. |
Well that certainly sounds legit! If only this was the level of proof required in our judicial system, trials would go a lot faster. |
Honey, you are on an anonymous forum and you think the world is come to your feet with 'proof required in our judicial system'? Everyone at that school knows what is happening. The OLO is right about middle class flight. |
You: *general assertion about something happening in the Blair magnet program* PP#1: How do you know this? PP#2: My kid is in the Blair magnet program, and that's not happening. You: *repeats general assertion about something happening in the Blair magnet program* |
No, I think if you're going to lob ridiculous assertions--like one about magnet students spending their days playing bingo--you should be able to back it up. It's not a high bar. |
| Any chance they'll outright discontinue the language immersion programs???? |
I have no dog in this fight. With a little bit of effort and the help of my friend Google I found what is being said about Blair to be largely true. Just do your own homework. Nearly forgot to mention, I was able to get a copy of a set of sheets labeled MAGNET BIMGO. The person who shared it with me did say her child received it during Advisory. |
I don't suppose that the person who shared the set of sheets labeled MAGNET BIMGO, which you now have a copy of, also shared information about who handed the sheets out and who received the sheets? Because, honestly, anybody can say anything on an anonymous message board -- and often does. |
