I was his patient for several months and I got so sick of waiting at least an hour (usually about 1.5 hours or more), even when I had one of the first appointments of the day. And the 1.5 hour wait was just in the front waiting room! Then they'd move me to an exam room and I'd wait at least another 30 minutes. Sometimes, they actually shuffled me from exam room to exam room! His office staff are very rude. I'm sure he's a very good doctor but he is condescending, bordering on rude, and I always felt like he was rushing through my appointment to get to the next patient.

I see Dr. Robert Silverman in Fairfax. I originally started seeing him as a teenager and I went back to him because my experience with Dr. Albert was so negative. Dr. Silverman is awesome. He is friendly, knowledgeable, and his office staff are competent. I don't have to wait long to see him, maybe 15 minutes max.

Cripes!! I'm sitting in Dr. Albert's office right now. It's my first time here and my first derm appt ever. I'm going to see Dr. Toerge though. My OB referred me. I have MAJOR health anxiety and my OB's office said that she's very good and very compassionate. I have so many embarrassing skin issues plus I'm worried about a mole. I literally feel like I'm going to throw up right now. My mom died (breast cancer) this summer and after going to the doctor with her many times I'm so freaking nervous about it. I'll check back in after the appt. to give my review.

I see Dr. Toerge. I have never waited more than 10 minutes and she is very personable. She hasn't had to remove anything yet, but I felt like she did a thorough skin exam.

I switched to her from Dr. Nims in Vienna, who literally took about 1-2 minutes to examine my entire body and said "eh, I don't see anything I'm worried about" (I am covered in freckles and moles)I had to point a couple out to her that looked odd to me and she ended up removing one to biopsy. She didn't stitch it, just left it open to heal and now I have a huge scar where it was. She has zero bedside manner, and I always felt like I was bothering her.

Most eczema goes away with steroids like triamcinolone. But for some reason, eczema attracts fungus...so get a prescription for Clotrimazole with BethameThasone to treat both eczema and fungal infection at the same time. In addition, I use melaleuca.com "renew" lotion. It has tea tree oil, a natural anti-infection.

I have found him to be personable, friendly and knowledgeable. He does not accept insurance, however, so you may want to call the office and find out what he charges for consultation/exam.

Hmmm... Not uptight and snobby? And did his office bill you exactly one year to the day of your appointment?

He is the worst doc I have ever seen- He was very close to make my niece get permanat problem from a drug he prescribed for her acney

Me and several friends all call Linda Nims "the witch doctor" after seperate appointments we've had with her. Never again! I went to Dr. Kim after that and he was very helpful.

Can someone recommended a dermatology that is good in vitiligo?

I took my 13 year old daughter to Dr. Kim this morning. He was very pleasant and efficient. He prescribed two generic creams for my daughter's acne and recommended an over-the-counter face wash and moisturizer. He says we should see results in about a month. We're hopeful the treatment will be successful and we have every expectation that it will. He does not participate in our insurance plan but his office provided the provider's completed form that I just need to drop in the mail for reimbursement. I was very pleased with the entire experience at Dr. Kim's office.

I've seen Dr. Bajoghli in his Woodbridge office. He is good. But he is very popular (Washingtonian Top Doc) and he moves around between several offices so it can be tough to get an appointment with him. There is a nurse practitioner named Janice Rasmussen in the Woodbridge office and she's great. There is also a physician's assistant named Adler.

So, how was your daughter's acne treatment with Dr. Kim? Did his prescriptions and OTC work well? I am trying to find a good dermatologist for my kid's acne as well. But I don't want cosmetic treatment or very strong medicines.

Dr. Henry is great. Don't get near Bajoghli, complete idito. All he cares about is money.

Samantha Toerge, MD, FAAD is a dermatologist at Fairfax Dermatology
Must have been a bad day when I took my DD to Dr Toerge. After waiting for 1 1/2 hours she buzzed in, insulted my DD, then used her frozen pen to burn off a mole right next to my DDs Va -j -j. No warning and extremely painful. I left the office to the sound of the other children's screams. Obviously not going back there. I suspected the good doc was not in her right mind that day... for whatever reason.

I went to her for a skin checkup and age spots. She burned one of the spots off and left a nasty scar. She said I would need fraxel laser for the large spot (around $7,000 - $9,000). After the scar I went elsewhere, NOVA Skin Care, had the large spot removed (no scarring) for less than $100,

I've had it since I was a baby (I'm 25 now) and it was only ever bad in the normal places; insides of elbows, backs of knees & eyelids. I've recently (in the last 2-3 years) developed terrible rashes on my hands that have only been getting worse, I thought they were eczema but nothing has been helping. I've started drinking more water, taking omega 3 fish oil, flaxseed oil, and a bunch of other supplements that are supposed to be good for inflamation as well as tried to avoid lanolin as it comes from sheeps wool whoch can irritate the skin.

Then a few weeks ago I was looking for eczema creams and asked a pharmacist for any recommendations, he looked at it and said he thought it was fungal.

I saw Dr. Marjam Yousefi in Arlington last week because she had good reviews on several websites, but she didn't really give me any insight or new information and the appointment seemed rushed. She said it was not fungal, it was eczema and wrote me a steroid prescription. I'd like to see someone who can tell what it is, and confidently explain why. I'm not sure if this is accurate, but the office environment appeared to cater more to cosmetic dermatology, and I found it a bit unusual that the space was shared with a chiropractor.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

You ever consider having an allergy test. My son had eczema and everything went away once we started allergy shots.

I've seen a couple of these docs so I thought I'd weigh in... Both dh and I see dr Albert. He is weird and condescending. Frankly, he creeps me out and I hate being naked in front of him for skin checks. That said, he seems like a good doc and is very thorough. I just don't like him personally. I have also seen dr Fuchs. I thought he was fine but not very thorough with my skin check. Also, on one visit I wanted a mole removed and he made me come back for a 2nd visit because I hadn't specifically made a surgical appt. annoying, because I actually did tell them exactly what I wanted on the phone when I made the initial appointment. Finally, dh used to see dr sawchuck and was very happy with him. Unfortunately, he stopped taking our insurance.

to those who mentioned Dr. Bajoghli and his PA Janice Rasmussen, DO NOT GO THERE!!!! I saw Janice Rasmussen and asked her about an annoying spot in the "nether region" and was told it looked like scar tissue. How could it be scar tissue when there is no scar or any other reason for scar tissue to be there. I took her word for it. but it continued to be annoying, so when i went to the GYN, i asked her about it. she did a biopsy, and it was most certainly NOT scar tissue. It was a VIN2 (vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia, level 2, which is mid-range, level 3 is the highest grade). if Janice had caught it when i saw her 5 months earlier, it may have been level 1, or no level at all!! I had to go thru 2 surgeries to remove it thoroughly. NOT FUN!!! I realize that even doctors can make mistakes, but i would rather biopsy it first and have her be wrong than to go through what i went through. and, yes, i realize it could have been a LOT worse, but for me, at that point, it was awful!!

to those who mentioned Dr. Fran Rotter, i think she is awesome!!! I had a mole on my forehead, just inside the hairline, and it would bleed when i brushed my hair. she removed it and biopsied it. she said it didnt look bad, but because it would bleed, she thought it would be a good thing to check it out. it was a basal cell. her husband, Dr. Steven Rotter, removed it with MOHS, and you cant see the scar unless i point it out. He has also removed a squamous cell (which she diagnosed), and you cant see that scar, either!! I love them and i cant wait to go back now that i have insurance they both accept. hope this helps if you havent found someone you like.
