Depends on why you want to go. After trying several derms over the years, I knew I wanted someone whose strength was medical dermatology but also offered cosmetic options. If this is what you are looking for (as opposed to someone who focuses more on cosmetic only), I highly recommend Glenn Fuchs. He's very respected. He has an office in Arlington and one in DC. It can take a while to get your first appointment but once you're a patient, it's better. He is personable, direct, and thorough. The year before I saw him I saw Hema Sundaram in Fairfax and was disgusted by the heavy sales pitches by her PA. All they wanted to do in that office was sell me the doctor's line of cosmetic products and talk me into laser treatments. If I wanted just cosmetic treatments, I might have felt ok there. |
Dr Chris Ha in Gainesville with Prince William Dermatology. |
Dr. Gary Fuchs in Arlington. Very good, thorough, pleasant and good office staff. |
I am looking for a Dermatologist who knows a lot about hair. My son is only 17 and losing hair in an alarming rate want someone who can offer some solutions or at least slow it down or find out what caused a sudden thining. Please help if you know a good teen or adult doctor. Thanks |
Try Dr. Kim. He has an office in McLean (near Tysons) and also in Sterling. He does both pediatric and adult dermatology. I have found him to be personable, friendly and knowledgeable. He does not accept insurance, however, so you may want to call the office and find out what he charges for consultation/exam.

I like Linda Nims in Vienna. |
Hmmm... Not uptight and snobby? And did his office bill you exactly one year to the day of your appointment? |
PP what do you mean by your comment? |
I am currently looking for a good dermatologist who actually listens to the problem and facotrs related. I have been seeing Dr. Columbo a member of Capital Pediatrics but I have gotten NO answers. I am looking for someone who will analys my chart, listen to the factors related to the issue and provide me with valid answers or reasoning prior to running tests or giving me a perscription.
I have spent hundreds of dollars on co pays, tests and medications that I did not need all perscribed by Dr Columbo. I am looking for an answer. I have a ten month old son, who I am very close with everyday. I would like to be sure that whatever is going on with my hands is not a concern when it comes to my son. And I would love to know what is causing it so I can treat it and not have pain every morning when I go to pick my son up out of bed. Any and all responses are welcomed. I have BCBS and need someone who takes insurance. I will drive as far as I have to for the right dr. Thanks |
Has anyone seen Dr Bruckner recently? We use her practice as backup when we need to get in sooner than our own derm can get us in. Last time I asked for Dr. Bruckner I was told that she was on some sort of medical leave -- it sounded rather ominous. I'm hoping it was something relatively minor and she's back in practice, but I haven't needed an appointment since then. |
I used to go to Dr. Doshi at University Dermatology Associates in DC, but heard that she recently left to practice in Arlington, VA. I liked her a lot, she spent a lot of time with me during my appointment. You might be able to find out where she is in Arlington. |
Excellent doctor, but don't be surprised if you're kept waiting to see him for over an hour after your appointment time, even for a morning appointment. |
I've never been to a derm, but my acne is getting worse despite trying everything I can think of.
Who is good with acne? Not cystic, but still an issue. I have no idea what to ask or what to look for with a dermatologist. |
Second Dr. Kim. I see him. He has also seen both DDs (14 and 11) and has been great with all of us. Highly recommend. |
I also liked Dr. Seaman.
