I thought for a long time that my baby was the most beautiful baby I ever saw until my mother showed me a picture of another baby. I had to agree with her. I was the most gorgeous baby ever born!

I have three children and while I love them all dearly and equally, I have to say the middle child is most definitely the stand-out looker.
He is the one that now at 23 is the one everyone comments on is the beauty of our family. As a newborn no one said he was cute, in fact if they did, I could tell they were just being polite because he was really chunky and had red and wrinkly skin. Then at six months, he grew into his cuteness and since then he just morphed into what he looks like now. He is very photogenic and I am sure instinctively he knows he is good-looking since he always takes lots of selfies, but I raised him w/good morals so he is a good kid overall. |

Even if someone's baby is not cute to me, I always coo and tell them their baby is adorable. I feel like I have to when I meet someone's baby. If I don't say anything, then I feel like I am being rude.
By the way, the cutest baby I have ever seen so far is Prince George. Is that not the cutest baby ever? He is going to be one heartbreaker someday!!

I think that baby is not cute at all
|
How very strange. I have absolutely no recollection of having posted on this thread already. |
| I think it's chemical. You fall in love with your baby and it looks beautiful to you. |
| Yes, both my boys were super cute babies. |

I think familiarity plays a role too. Didn't some study show that we find features attractive if they are familiar to us? Our kids are very familiar to us so that probably makes them really cute to us as well.
I think mine are super cute but in different ways. But I always wonder if other people actually agree. I am always being told they are cute but I say that to other parents as well - it is the nice thing to do even if you don't really believe it. Also, mine are young - preschool and kindergarten. I look around their class and to be honest, 80% of the class is cute at that age. Once you get to 3rd or 4th graders, not so much... |
| I was always very objective and knew my children weren't the most beautiful nor were they the ugliest. They were fat, cute, bald, and way ahead of the curve when it came to physical milestones so they got lots of comments. DD was a short but round at 9 months, the size of a six month old, but she was walking and it freaked people out. We were in a shop and she was holding onto the car while walking around the store with me. Much like you'd do with a one year old but given her size we were quickly the focus of anyone who saw us. They were just amazed that this little thing could not only walk but walk around with me while I did the shopping. She'd taken her first steps at six months, clear across a room during a party we were hosting, leaving everyone gobsmacked, but she didn't regularly walk on her own until nearly 8 months. Second baby walked at 10 months but I think it's because he was way too fat to carry and couldn't go as far. By 1.5 he was thin and riding his tricycle, on his own, up the street. He was super cute while doing it. |
Correct. Though, strangers tell me: all babies are cute, but your baby is really cute. |
| DD came out without baby features- we had a friend's dad even say that at a few weeks old she looked like months ahead if not like their 2 year old (in facial development). DD also had this huge focus as a baby that had strangers point this out. Anyway, we have kids that as babies were not "regular" babies- they really had facial development of a months ahead= so yes they were cute but not typical babies face. |
But... how did your mom get a copy of MY baby pic?? |
|
| I had a funny conversation with a stranger in a restaurant. She complimented my son and I thanked her and said I thought he was amazingly cute but I know that everyone thinks their baby is the cutest. [I told her about my cousin who's baby DH and I agreed was absolutely scary looking but the immediate family thought he should be a baby model.] She said she worked in a pediatrician's office and agrees that not all babies were cute but assured me that mine really was. Haha! |
