Jeans Shorts for the over 40 crowd, yay or nay?

Anonymous
I agree with the picture posters - make sure the shape is flattering. Jeans Shorts is not = Jeans Shorts. My Mom is over 50 and her body looks better than mine...she is super athletic and doesn't try to look younger at all (no dyed hair, no botox, just her real self) I am super proud of the way she looks and she wears shorts in summer. It's hot people. Why not wear shorts?! The shorter the better, if you have the body to go with it there is no age restriction in my opinion. As long as it looks classy and not trashy, but honestly OP sounds like she can figure THAT difference out pretty well

Hollister -- and good luck with that.

Bermudas if you like the style. Shorts on older women --- more of an exercise thing. Unless you are OK with pic #2. Please do not think for one minute that you look like that teen in the picture.

??

Um, no. I'm the PP who actually posted the pics and, as I responded up-thread, they're AGs. Available at Saks.

cmon, really?

1. 40 isn't old, for cripe's sake.

2. even if it was, so what?

3. do you really think that the two possibilities here are either you look like you're a teenager or else you look like you've completely given up on trying to look nice?

Trying to look nice in jean shorts at 40 IS trying to look like a teen. But if you are 40 and you want to look like you are competing with your teenage DD, then go for it!

I think we;re going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

This is not the 90s anymore.

Welp. You're showing your age here. The 90s are back fashionwise.

I personally don't like those clothing "rules" of you can't wear a certain clothing item if you are over a certain age.

If you look good in it, then you can wear it.

I am 45 and I still shop at Forever 21 in spite of my son telling me to go down a few doors and buy my clothes at Forever 41!!!!!!!!

I bought a pair for my 9 year old. She looks super cute in them. I could probably get away with them, but jeans (even jean shorts) are just too hot in the summer. Besides, I don't need to where the same outfits as my dd.

If your SON is telling you to stop shopping at Forever 21 then you likely don't look as good in those clothes as you think you do.

Boys tend to not notice those kinds of things unless it looks truly awful.

If you're talking about something like this, I think they're fine:

They are in all the stores and catalogs this season.

Yes, in the juniors section.

There is a very real reason for that.

Um, no, but thanks for playing!

You know NYM jeans? These are not your moms shorts -- those are girls in their 20s.

I don't think they look good on anyone, regardless of age or sex. Denim material should be for pants only!
